Which Z4 is being recalled

If you put your car reg into the mot checker, it now lists any recalls on your car:

Not sure how quick it is to update for recalls though.

Mines a 2008, just checked No recall, will check again in a few days.

The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve has a heater as part of the valve that can short circuit, resulting in parts of the valve melting and risking a fire hazard. This can happen even when the vehicle is not in use.
Recall repairs on your BMW must be performed by a BMW dealership. BMW will notify known owners of affected vehicles beginning in December, 2017. If you do not receive a notification, but wish to check to see if your vehicle is included, please contact one of your local BMW dealerships. They will also check for any other incomplete recalls on your vehicle. For best results, be prepared to provide your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to the service department consultant you speak with.

It said 'potentially fatal electrical fault where faulty cars could lose all their lights'. The death was another motorist who swerved to avoid a blacked out BMW struck by the fault. BMW have know about thye problem for years but only following a coroners court are thyey issuing a recall.v
I can’t remember which paper I read it in (evening standard maybe) a couple of days ago (or exactly what it said) but I finished reading thinking there wasn’t a problem with E85/E86.
I thought it said models from 2007 onwards, but that statement covered all affected models.
I assumed no major changes to the Z4 coupe between 2006 and 2007 (or was there??) so when they said some z4s were affected I assumed they meant E89s??

How about when the poxy electric steering fails for a start, they should recall all early Zeds to sort it out.

Our old Honda Jazz was still getting recalls at 11 years old for electrical issues and our 13 year old Nissan has just been recalled for a passenger airbag issue.

firebobby, I had recalls for passenger then driver's airbag on my E46 when it was 15 years old so BMW seem to be as good as any.
Sorry to have read about your steering problem, but presumably you just lose the power assistance so you can still steer it - sort of like your GT6 that has no PAS!
The "Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve Heater Short Circuits And Melts" recall has been out since October 2017 and all affected owners in the "USA" were notified by mail stating parts should be available for authorized BMW replacement by the end of April 2018. BMW stated letters would be mailed to affected owners instructing us to contact our local dealership for appointment scheduling, regards.

Cheers, while on the move it's not to bad, but low speed moves are bloody stupid. I know we are pampered these days, but I don't remember steering in the old days being this heavy. The electric motor must have some meshing on the steering, which adds a drag to it.
