Which e89

So, I’ve let my beautiful MR go... Enjoyed the years on the forum so far.

I’ve put a deposit down on a low mileage 2014 E89 Sdrive 35is in Mineral Grey. Hopefully get it at month end after garage works completed. Any advice on the 35is please?

I think I am ready for a fast comfortable tourer now. I was originally aiming for an Alfa Romeo 4C but thought it was too much of an outlay in these times.

What "garage works"?

I bought a 2010 e89 3.0 6spd last year. We drive year round and she has been lovely. Comfortable, quiet, peppy, And with little bit of work and some new Michelin NRF she is a great handling roadster. I did find later I could have waited for a model with 306 hp but 258 seems okay. (US specs) But really the car has everythign I was looking for: motor, tires, gear shifter, convertible... yeah - that's it

1. Take the god damn RFTs off the car and protect the alloys (as soon as you receive the car, make sure you check the inside edge for any cracks, make sure the dealer pays if there are any as it is an MOT failure and fairly common due to the rubber band thickness, wide tyre width, big camber, and stiff runflat tyre walls).
2. Clean your engine bay at least once so its easy to see any oil leaks in the future (not that you should expect them).
3. Burn the whippy aerial :poke:
4. Find yourself a good set of roads and some nice weather and have at it!

P.S. In a few years time swap out your roof salmon relays (£30 of preventative maintenance) for peace of mind.

I’m epoxying floor and new roller doors installation. Not ‘works’ on the car. :)

All noted, thank you sir!

Lovely - hopefully getting a TV, sofa and beer fridge too!

It'll be interesting to see how you find the 35is compares to your M.

Happens often with the 2litre e89’s, they’re 18/20 or 28i with no decimal point as they’re all 2.0 capacity

What is it then
The model code is a 23i, its not a 2.3, it has a 2.5 Litre engine:)

To be fair to "JohnE " he was actually undersizing his capacity which can't be said for the twin turbo owners :P :poke:
Yip they all have 3.5 Litre engines.
Going on this logic I have a 4.0 Litre twin turbo diesel X6. :driving:

Did somebody say diesel ? I have a twin screw 3l i6 diesel in the BMW X5 which is 255 hp 416ft-lb torque and by my standards, race ready in sport mode.

My X6 40D model has 302hp and 443ft-lb torque which can apparently be remapped to give 360hp and 510ft-lb torque

My Mustang GT makes 435 hp and 400 ft-lb torque but who's counting ? :poke:
My favorite car to drive is the E89 3.0 with 258 hp and a 6 spd manual gearbox. This car really brings a smile to my face.
