After looking for a e85/86 z ,ive now decided to up my budget so i can now buy a e89 .Im still at the low end about 8/9k so my options are still.limited .Id ideally like a 3l but may settle for a smaller engine .So i wandering what will give the best bang for bucks & what options should i try to get .cheers

The 3 litre gives the most for the money out of the na engines, similar to the e85 the m-sport seats are desirable (especially heated ones) although the idrive is a bit marmite.
Same with the auto gearbox, it has its fans but the majority seem to enjoy the manual box for the extra level of involvement it brings to a sporty car.
Beware of cracked 19” wheels :?

Whereabouts are you based? I have one for sale near Edinburgh. Forum car for many years.

It's priced to sell for the time of year therefore I won't be taking any offers.

Thanks Rob .Having spent a couple of months reserching e85/86s im not quite in the know about e89s .So its basicaly the same sort of things to watch out for spec wise .cheers

Understandable.

Best of luck finding something good on your doorstep. You won't be disappointed with these cars!

It says silver in the ad but that looks champagne to me. It has sports seats but nothing else, ie, I drive Sat nav, cruise, decent stereo. Mileage is good but imho you’ll struggle like a trapped cat to move that on come the time. Personally I’d ignore it, there are plenty of cars around. I’d also be having a word with myself and making the effort to go on a train and buy Greg’s 30i, a well known car on here, well looked after by him and the previous owner Pastry, and a sound buy, you could do a hell of a lot worse by buying something cheaper and unknown then having to shell out on all sorts of problems.

Anyhoo, best of luck.

I withdrew this from Sale late last year intending to put it back up for sale in Spring. It's still available with full I-drive/Nav top spec if you're interested and its in Bristol (now on 71k miles)

I know the colour is a bit marmite, it's called Orion silver but it's actually more like champagne and it's missing a few toys but for that mileage it seems too cheap to the point I would be asking what's wrong with it!

It’s cheap because nobody wants it, not because there’s anything wrong with it, simple.

Buy a problem and you’ve got a problem to sell later on, take your pick.

Hi Lavy,

I'll shortly be putting my 2009 E89 23i Auto in Alpine White up for sale at around £7750. It's only done 68k miles, so well below average.

Only reason it isn't up yet is I am waiting for my new car to be ready and also wanted to refurb the alloys before sale.

In in Reading.

Feel free to drop me a message if you want anymore details.

Cheers
Mark

Mine is a 2009 E89 2.3 with 54k on the clock. It's a manual, has heated leather seats, nice wheels, it's alpine White and I love it.

Driven fast cars, raced 250 gearbox karts, spent many years sat alongside some very quick drivers co-driving but nothing makes me smile more than putting down the top and having a drive somewhere. Not interested in doing track days or driving it like I stole it each time I go out but it's fun, really good fun. The engine pulls nicely and is eager to rev, it's slower than my X335d but I am really happy with it. Horse's for courses of course but enjoy whatever you buy.

I did the same, started looking at E85’s then E86’s and then upped my budget to get an E89. Ended up with a 59 plate 23i 49k FSH with quite a few extras, heated MSportseats, 296’s Cruise to name a few.

I have to agree with others, don’t discount because of the distance, I’d travel to Edinburgh for greg81 s if that’s the model you’re looking for because it could be well worth the trip.

I traveled from Argyll in Scotland to Devon to buy a forum members car rather than get an unknown one more locally. So glad I did as there were cheaper options closer to home but I could look at 4+ yrs of unedited history about my potential purchase on here and the car was well looked after by an enthusiast.

As for the colour......absolutely not for me, selling that on would be a nightmare, also not particularly nice to look at either IMHO

As for the price of it, unfortunately for sellers it’s about market price if not even a wee bit high given the colour.

Straight six is also a thing of beauty, especially with the top down. No experience of any of the other engines but I love mine.
