I just wish though BMW would update the Z4s interior though, especially the binacle display, it can't be that hard to do and don't understand why they didn't do anything on the LCI to bring it inline with the F Series.

3 great cars. Had a m3 500 edition for a week & loved it apart from the mpg & almost bought it,also had the m235 for a couple of days & it's a great motor too. But can't really say either made me smile the way my 35is does :D 406-8ADB2669857E-1386-000000EE0141E750_zps180c8be3.jpg

It's the one that gets the attention faster/ slower or not !

I had an E92 M3 last year. Huge disappointment, great engine but gearing too high, no torque low down, and a very heavy car. I have over 20 years experience with Porsches and was expecting much more from BMW's equivalent. Would probably be much better with the competition pack. Lovely looking car though.

Its good to hear someone else having the same view as me about it! I usually get gunned down on other forums with owners telling me its the best car in the world bar none and how dare I criticise it!!

I had spent years and years wanting one but now wish I had just left it as a dream because the reality was one hell of a come down...I think I joined the M3 party too late though because I loved the E36 M3`s I have driven but BMW had changed direction a fair bit with the E92.

I would still like to tick the E46 M3 Box,

Im not interesed in the E92 M3 to be honest, i would rather have a 1M!

The 1M was what I would also have preferred but at the time my budget £30k and the 1M was fetching nearly £40k and the dealer had one in the showroom and I said to him I would like to be driving away in that!

They have really held their value well too so it would have been a far more wise choice in more ways than one.

No contest on looks IMO - the Zed wins it

M235i is probably best all round car. M3 is tasty but running costs...

i think you are all missing the plot here :poke: am i the only one who cannot see the point in buying what is visually a bog std box IE M1 or M3 with a big engine , they are to be found absolutly everywhere , especially the M3 common as muck :poke: there is nothing unique about the M1 or M3 ,its a marketing exercise by BMW to sell more units ,take a bog std metal box add a an M badge ,wack the price up .please form an orderly que here :fuelfire: and you guys fall for it every time ,the E89 on the otherhand is unique ,nothing like it ,the Cayman could temp me but its a coupe , the boxter is ,well lets face it er ugly :fuelfire: in my opinion , the E89 looks the part and you dont see many about ,its a no brainer folks :tumbleweed:

Who mentioned M1? As for nothing unique about it I think you need to educate yourself as this is a M1

I assume what you meant to say was 1M which is something completley different. As for being found everywhere, no they aren't they made less than a thousand of them world wide. The engine used in it is only found in one other car, the 35is. I had a E88 135i, I got to use a 1M on a track day and it was a completely different beast, power, handling, sound. Just so much aggression in such a small package.

I assume you've never owed or driven a 'proper' ///M car especially the E30s, E36s and the E46s, if you had your know it's not marketing but the actual engineering of the car, the way it feels and drives, the powe delivery. The fact that the competition for many years had to use much larger engines, superchargers etc to get anywhere near and BMW were using NA engines which were so well engineered they ate up and spat out the rivals.

Each to their own but to truly comment on such things you need to have experienced them and experienced them properly. 'Proper' ///M cars are not ten a penny, they are not as mass produced as you seem to imply, 318's, 320's, 116's, 228's, 120's, yes these are everywhere because they can be had cheap on lease or the never, never. An actual M car, like a M3, M4 etc are not cheap and as much as a lot of people would like to own one, it's just not feesabile and so they go for what they can afford, thus saturating the market.

The ///M cars help BMW sell their bog standard cars and that can be seen when people choose colours that they've chosen to show of the ///M cars in.

On another note, we've got the E89 and M235i which are current production cars and then we have the old M3, why not the M4?

hi troops easy on the abuse i acccept my error i ment to say the M2 and M3 are no more than metal boxes with an M badge , I think deep down you all knew id made an error , the M1 is a class apart  , i accept that, but i still stick with my comments re M2 and M3 bog std box :fuelfire:

But are the \\\Ms really worth 20/30K over an M135i/235i? in all honesty no in everyday driving, the gap I feel isn't total. I will be trying the M2 to test my theory :)

I tried an M4 a few weeks back and wasn't overwhelmed to be honest compared to the M135i but then I wasnt driving 100%. Price bracket for the M2 is predicted around 50K so you're looking at a 20K price difference over the M135/235i. Thats alot for everyday driving.
