My plan this year is to p/x my E92 M3 for a Nissan GTR (2014 MY), happy with keeping the Z as a daily driver tho

So, sub £20k what else would you go for in the next 12 months...??? (let's exclude the predictable, but excellent boxster/cayman S)

A1GSS said:The Smart flipflop is a 2 seater roadster but that's not comparable either imho....
Otherwise, um... ... Size. Weight. Depreciation. Cost. Build quality. Interior quality. Noise. Silence. Ride. Engineering. Toys. Supercharger. V8. Auto. Wheel size. Space. Comfort. Weight. Servicing cost. ... They don't compare, my view of course.
JayEmm said:The odd thing about the SL is that although on paper it might seem like a rival, I certainly can't think of anyone who likes the E85/86 M as wanting one. I've only driven the previous gen (05 plate) SL350, but the general impression was of a bit, soft GT car with every control way, way over-servo'd.
Also they weigh nearly 2 tonnes IIRC, which is obscene for something with two seats!
Still a lovely noise from the AMG division ones, I don't know if they steer and handle differently too?
JayEmm said:My dad has a 355 and we are fairly convinced that the Z4 is just as fast. The Ferrari is not a quick car. Some for the 360, they are very torque-lite at low revs, even by ///M standards. Peak torque on a 355 comes in at 6000rpm!
:rofl:Paulwirral said:...a tvr that doesn't break down ...
Well, maybe. So might the R8 or any number of carbon italians. Or a corvette.StevenH72 said:... if people are looking for a quick 2 seater roadsters then both the Z4M and SL55 are bound to feature?
2k plus for front discs and pads , I nearly bought one , but there is no aftermarket alternative for discs yet , or at least there wasn't a year ago .JayEmm said:I did see somewhere a slightly terrifying quote for a set of discs/pads on an AMG merc - not sure which one but it was the same as replacing a set on a Lambo or something. With a second hand Ferrari I don't think you'll expect it to be cheap to service, but a merc would catch people out.
The Z4M is fairly expensive to run, but nothing on it seems hideously bad.
