the shade of both your wheels i think would compliment the car while not being too black/dark, it provides contrast while not standing out to much as the OEM silver does.
i think im heading towards a middle tone/flash chrome.
probably the only question i have is do i keep the inner rim polished bare, polished and waxed metal or paint and lacquer them?

That's what I did. The stars are the real pro's piece and they are where the eye focusses. Strip them down take the stars to a specialist and have a go at the rest.
Tip - dot punch each star and rim pair '.' to '....', in a hidden place, so you can rebuild original sets and not mix them up
