What have you done to your E89 today

Got back in the garage today after a time out looking after SWMBO who has been poorly but slowly recovering…

Anyway..

Had been pondering why my new big Brembo front upgrade pads were not fully wiping the disc (not unusual on BMWs ..the E89 rear pad does the same quite badly)

Was about to torque down the caliper bolts (182nm!) and thought I’d check it out ..

I’d bought two sets of pads for the front ..some famous in America Hawk pads and some Brit Ferodo in the DS2500 street/light track compound )..

Well…the Ferodo pads had more depth to them than the Hawk…

After much googling discovered another super subtlety about Ford Mustang calipers..turns out the GT500 caliper is oh so slightly changed from the GT350 Shelby version..

Anyone want a set of Hawk pads for a Mustang 500?🧐😳🙈

That’s the trouble going off piste..

Anyway front now buttoned up and all brake pipes torqued up..onto the backs next ..

Thanks, Rick. Just a couple of small jobs left to do, then I think I'll be happy, lol.

Welcome to Team Remus 😉 knew you’d love it. S-miles better

The sound is spot on. Not in your face, and not too quiet. :)

Reassembling front and rear bumpers with all their sensors, lights, washers, cameras, grills and covers..

Sadly my paint man’s colour match 2nd attempt hasn’t worked out well on the small covers….

I’ll revisit them another day..

Peter puts me to shame… I went out to the garage earlier just to check ours is still in there! It will get taxed in April, got a date for an MoT and a date for that pesky VANOS bolt recall. Bring on the sunshine!!

Another good day on the Yellow Peril..the rear radar detectors for the IDMotion digital cluster and the TWO (yes two) reversing camera feeds all wired up..just need to tap into a rear 12v ignition on feed..

Front camera power feed tapped into the now redundant active dampers power connector in the electrical box in the engine bay (waste not)…doesn’t sound a lot but that’s over 5 hours at my speed..lots of grommets, cable ties, cable wrap going in…

Boxes and boxes of Amazon finest pins, grommets etc improve the professionalism..

Did a lot of tidying up in and around the garage…tools and used parts everywhere…CherryM up on Wednesday to pop bumpers and try and bleed the brakes..

Was waiting for matching Ferodo DS2500 pads in F 5 series to arrive which happened today.

Given I had to unexpectedly put some DS2500 pads on the Mustang front brakes (due to buying Hawk pads for S500 not S350 Mustang)

Was concerned that my carefully calculated front /rear brake bias calcs would be thrown out by using normal street pads on rear with DS2500 on the front..

Was pleased to see that the pad came with a pad wear sensor capability..wasn’t expecting that from a track biased pad.

A lot of metal in those pads..

Just hoping that my remade brake lines hold up..most are good , just one rear I’m not comfortable with.

Washed, dried, then gave it a coating of mothers cmx ceramic spray. Had good results with this stuff with my e85.

Hay! How soon after painting do you get it polished to level it?
