What have you done to your car today?

Used Cerakote Headlamp restoration kit and really happy with the results.

Took about 45 mins in total and a lot better than the holts I had applied previously.

Will report back on longevity.

What engine do you have? Never managed above 34mpg on a 3.0si
N52B25 (2.5si). To be fair, after I put the fuel treatment in the tank, I reset the mpg counter and went for a long-ish drive which did not involve too much low gear work so I dare say the figures will come down a bit once I get back to doing the daily commute to work. I was still pleasantly surprised though.

Applying some UV headlight sealer will help keep them fresh. Or some UV proof PPF/headlight film.

Prepared everything to replace the water pump from underneath. The pit is not located where I usually do the work. Then I remembered to look for some instructions on how to replace the pump and found out the engine had to be lifted. I nearly gave up when I came across an idea how to lift the engine. Luckily one vehicle at home still had the emergency jack. Yay!

So I replaced the water pump today, along with it I planned to replace the bottom hose and the thin water hose on the side. I managed to replace the bottom hose but the other one won't come off in no way. The side closer to the cabin is giving me hard time. I sprayed it with penetrating silicone grease, but without success.
Any other idea how to get it off?

Still struggling with this MF.... I drowned it in silicone grease spray, I pulled from underneath with all my weight and it won't let go. It wiggles a little but that's it.
Is cutting it off really the only solution left? 😵‍💫

If you ever managed over 40mpg you just aren't trying hard enough!

I averaged slightly more than 32mpg in my first 3.0Si over 8K miles and 34mpg in my second over 14K miles, but they were both fun cars so didn't commute or do short trips.

Had my aircon regassed today. It wasn't dead but it is definitely better now. I'm taking the zed down to Ile de Re, in France, next week and I'm thinking that good aircon may be important. However, I'm hoping to have the lid down for most of the trip. I would love to feel the wind in my hair.....if I had any!

I was thinking of colouring the black soft top since, although I have cleaned it, there is still has some evidence of algal growth. Anyone got experience of using roof dye?

when you clean the roof add milton sterilising fluid to the process to destroy the algae and don't forget to half drop the roof and get under the back rubber seal as that can be the source of the regrowth with the trapped silt

Had the roof motor relocated. Discovered that the bottom sensor that sensed the roof closed was bodged with mastic… probably when the motor was changed. Thanks previous owner…
No need to find some sensors to rewire it

Did Simon Liggins do it? He asked me for a loom with the hall sensors on yesterday, but I'm all out.
@Number5, @bigwinn, @Umfaan, @Street, @GenZed can maybe help?

Finally got around to greasing my differential input hub and drilling out the rusty exhaust manifold studs, not a job I was looking forward to. Drilled through old studs and fitted stainless steel cap head bolts.
