What have you done to your car today?

Guy that restored my seats and other leather parts managed to match the color for the center storage button. Bought it black from aliexpress, fits like original (maybe it actually is, has the same letters on the back as original). Guy that polished the car previously restored the headlights and added Sonax UV protection. Will mount everything this weekend. :)

PS accidentally posted this before adding text, here is the rest

I would have believed you if you'd said those were brand new lights!

Yeah, they turned out great! I will create a separate post about my Z4 in June, after 5 years of ownership. I will post about everything that has been done to the car, prices, etc. :driving:

The sun is shining and driven it to his majesty's test centre to be given a certificate for 12 months with no advisories Happy days

Haven't done yet but am doing today, now it's nice and sunny, but I have an electrical issue after fixing the knock sensors because I tried to be lazy and do it without removing the inlet manifold.

I created a crank sensor fault, maf fault, power steering fault, the DSC light is on, I have an amber light on the brake warning light plus being unable to read a load of modules. I love electrical faults :|

Thanks to Ghen I got a cracking deal on a leather non M steering wheel as the standard one was rubber.

Also removed the drainage outlet bungs and flushed clean

Out with the old.

In with the new.

Picked up a complete and pristine manual roof for $400. That was A LOT cheaper than fixing all of the issues with the automatic roof. It was just wrecked from the accident. The frame was twisted, it needed a new pump, hydraulic lines, and the dogbone mounts were gone so it wasnt even attached to the car properly.
Plus, the tan just looked out of place on the gray car.

Hardest part was the last lacquer finish
Yeah I'm noticing this. Even worse, primer and the matte black went perfectly, however the lacquer is messing things up for me sadly. After drying, there's 4 parts it seems I need to sand / clean again and respray, which is a shame. And of the 8 parts, of course they're all front facing parts too. If they would've been back pieces I probably wouldn't bother :(

Why even using the lacquer? Wouldn't it look and feel better in pure matte finish?
Could be me, but I would think it's more 'protected' with a lacquer finish. The matte finish so far looks fine by itself, but doesn't feel as durable as I'd like. Maybe I'm just imagining things, and maybe all I need to do is just add another coating of matte :)

I had mine refurbished in 2023, the picture is from late 2024 when I had the leather repainted. So 1 season without any sign of usage. And I believe it will last for some years at least :)

Looking good!
And thanks for that info, guess I'll go with regular paint finish for now, can always change it later. Now to get the wheel off to Royals to get the leather parts sorted (to perforate or not, that is the question!) :)

Stunning - is that purely from the kit you mention? Any power tools involved to get them that good? (I see product description says ‘no tools’ but wondering if they’re optional to get a better finish).

Was just about to order the Autoglym kit so would find your answers very helpful, thanks in advance!
