Front splitter took longer than anticipated but overall I’m happy with how it turned out. Part of me wishes the front splitter stuck out another inch but that would’ve made street driving more difficult.

The breather hoses get very brittle due to age and repeated heat cycles. I have no idea what the long hose is, looks as though it could be for the near side headlight washer.

Agree that looks like the headlight washer hose but where did it come from? Unless OP removed the bumper, there no reason for to have come off (unless prior owner removed it and plugged the reservoir end).

I found this hose in ETK, its OEM part to the oil separator. have anybody this hose connected to the oil separator :?

Progressing slowly but smoothly with VANOS refurb. Had to wait for some new allen keys as the 8mm needed for the piston caps are on TIGHT and I managed to twist a key. No issues when using new Bondhus brand keys, quality is exceptional and live up to their reputation.

VANOS off after some slight flexing of the cross member and wiggling of the VANOS unit.

Getting there!

this weekend I replaced my android AvinUSA screen with a new Hifimax android 13 running ID8+.

My old unit which is a PX6 works fine but is limited to android 9 and slightly slow. The reason for the change is to get the steering wheel controls fully working and the new unit connects via the LDVS lead back to the original car system.

Thougfht it would be a straight swap!! nope as I had removed the hybrid TV module on the first install, good job I didn't sell it so had to refit that in the back of the boot. Also as I have DSP i had to move the aux plug which made it a bit tight when getting all the loom in behind the radio.

What the frontend looks like on the kitchen table when using the plastic welder to fix a few things.

The washer fluid bottle has been leaking since before Xmas, with the melted slush on the roads this last week it's been really annoying not having the ability to wash the crap away mid-journey. As I'd had the tank out and cleaned it end of last year I was pretty sure it hadn't cracked, but was either leaking from one of the pumps or the headlight washer pipes.

Over the weekend I pulled both pumps out and reseated them snugly in the rubber mounts, couldn't see any damage to the rubber mounts. Filled up with water and nothing leaked even when blowing into the tank to vaguely pressurise it. Refilled with screenwash given the recent temperatures - don't want to freeze and burst a pipe! - and it's held liquid for over 24 hours at this point so I think I've fixed it.

Next up, the gaping hole in the dashboard where the head unit should be. That's waiting on some CAD design for a bracket to drop the screen. Which I should be working on rather than looking at the forum

Just a thought but when I got my current Z4 the leak was from one of the headlight washers. It emptied the reservoir overnight, but because it was dry I could see the puddle next morning!

I had all kinds of leak problems that caused mold and damaged wires. Got the car 2 months ago but car is from 2008. I have it now on the table and resealed lens.

Changing the rear camber arms yesterday was a bit tougher than expected. Ah well, that's today sorted then 😁

Partially thanks to our local version of an MOT check, fitted new tyres (Michelin Pilot Sport 5s), installed new rear brake lines due to corrosion, installed new right rear caliper.

Once I had changed the HID lamps, I drove from Brecon in Wales to Aberfeldy in Scotland for a few days away while I’m using up the last two weeks of my holiday allowance.

Was a nice cruise up. Took about 7h 45 if you take out the stops. Did about 35mpg which isn’t bad for a supercharged 3.0si doing 75-80.

Hopefully someone is coming to remove the locking wheel bolts (Kwik Fit lost the key, though they are denying it). Then I am dropping it off to get the wheels repainted in Porsche Aurum Gold satin. It should end up looking something like this:
