What have you done to your car today?

Finally fitted all 4 wheels after the stud conversion kit was solidly installed. Overall, pretty happy with the new
Need to do something about that rear arch gap, but I'll have to wait until I get a set of coilovers as they will be height adjustable.

They look fantastic. I’m sure they will look great when the coil overs are fitted too, but I actually like to see a bit of arch gap these days. Funny how our tastes change over time.
I like to see an even gap all the way around the wheel, looks nice.

Not specifically today, but my brother in law adjusted the handbrake last Saturday morning so it's gone from dreadful and barely working to superb. Through the week I've also changed
-air filter for K&N one.
-Cabin filter
-fuel cap seal (MOT advisory)

Front brake dust cover plates are loose so I think they'll be removed and a spot weld put on to secure them again
MOT due in about 6 weeks, as is a service so getting ready for that.

Not “what have you done to your car today?”, but “what will you be doing to your car Tomorrow?”. Yes, the four dashboard lights of doom have appeared.

Good job you know what you are doing

Tried to wake it from winter hibernation. Dead battery and ctek error code indicates it’s beyond salvage. Well, it was more than ten years old anyway.

Took the seats out and cleaned the Carpets ,cleaned and painted the seat rails ,gave the Seats a good wash & treatment.

Well not today, but yesterday……..

I had been thinking about changing the water pump because I have no history of it being changed, and well, I like to tinker! I used Autodoc to buy a Pierburg pump and a Mahle thermostat which came in at just under £300 inc delivery and vat. Genuine BMW coolant plus de ionised water £37 so not too bad but will never know if I really needed to do it of course! All in all it’s a simple enough job…..

Putting the car on drive on ramps gives plenty of clearance to do the pump swap.

Remove the radiator cover. Then remove the filler cap and undo the breather plug - top right in the photo.

Under the car remove the two blue drain plugs, you can see that the expansion tank plug is still in situ and radiator plug is removed in this photo.

The old pump and stat was pretty cruddy, not sure if it was the original unit, I doubt it, and there was nothing wrong with it when inspected after removal but I now have piece of mind I guess.

Remove the hoses around the stat first which allows you to then tackle the pump. It is a simple job. Two hours.and you’re done! I followed the automatic bleeding procedure, which I have to say I was a bit doubtful of, but it turned out to be very impressive.

Now working on refurbing the steering wheel.

Football on the radio tinkering away…….enjoying myself immensely!

Finally completed the installation of my Garmin Drivesmart 66 into the original satnav flip screen. Thanks goes to mojito for coming up with the idea and great write up  It works perfectly! I must say there is definitely an improvement in sound quality since I have changed to a head unit with the display. Not sure for the reason, but I’m not complaining!

Also fitted new plugs and coil packs as preventative maintenance as I have no record of them being previously changed.

I’m thinking of doing the same, have you got a part number for your new knob?

Took a roadster out for the afternoon yesterday. Good fun to experience the open-top version of my car (albeit in a more comfortable setup)
