Great to meet in person, won’t be the last, and my Zed is back to normal. Much appreciated, Sir.enuff_zed said:Got in my project 2.2i, loaded with tools and drove 100 miles to visit Paul ([ref]Neens76[/ref]). We've spoken loads of times but never met before.
Couple of hours to do a leisurely replacement of the top cover gasket on his immaculate 3.0i, plus a confidence check of all the stored faults.
The car is on 86k and I suspect it was the original gasket as it was more akin to toffee brittle than rubber! Slightest touch and it shattered into a thousand shards.
Which doesn't say much for previous maintenance as there were two almost new coils fitted! Pretty sure the old gasket had just been left in place as it was the worst I've seen. Hopefully no more burning oil on the exhaust.
After all the dodgy weather it was so nice to get there and back in glorious autumn sunshine, with the little 2.2 returning a healthy 40.3mpg.
Driver's side ejector seat? isn't it meant to be on the passenger side? :evil:Mr Tidy said:Fitted a new bonnet buffer stop (with ejector) on the driver's side.
I did the other side just over a year ago, but got this one slightly cheaper on Ebay from Vertu in Durham - less than £12.![]()

Ahhhh.....Paignton seafront....that brings back memories of being lost as a 4 year old on the beach, parents were frantically looking everywhere for me after I decided to leave the hotel room and head for the beach for some sandcastle building action.....MikeyH said:Birthday out in the car with the wife today.
