What have you done to your car today?

I took it to Bicester and got Track mode coded by Wassup, so big thanks to him for that.

I missed him at Zedfest but it sounds like he was pretty busy anyway! Now I'm looking forward to finding out how much difference it makes. :D

Took out this today, it sits behind the right hand kidney grill and connects to the air intake. It’s supposed to give an extra 2bhp. What I have found is removing it gets rid of the annoying ghostly wwwhhooooing noise I put up with for almost 2 years :headbang: Much better now. There are posts on here with others complaining about the same noise, might be worth checking if you have one on your car. Someone on the forum made these many years ago and he sold loads of them.F93308C8-2CB0-4DE7-9A41-0D0A0331E26F.jpeg3E2540E4-B22A-4F42-A8A5-A14EE7FA2AB2.jpegF28689A9-ECC0-427D-ADAC-10C0EB1C8192.jpeg

gumi pledge /rubber treatment on all rubber seals Doing that keeps these parts soft and creates a better seal and clean them too :)

Been using for a few years now on my wife’s convertibles. I notice it can now be bought in a spray bottle, those sticks were always a pain to use.

Spent the last couple of days prepping the zed in anticipation of the Ace cafe meet and German Car Festival at Silverstone. Full wash and decontamination, clay bar, a going over with meguiars ultimate compound on a DA and then a coat of fusso wax. Inevitably it will rain both days! Also had the legend that is Andy at Bodytech PDR out to sort some minor dings which had miraculously appeared since last time he came round. I’m so careful with where I park my car, but they seem to appear from nowhere

Also fitted a Gaptech module, which is quite satisfying to play with.

Received my badging from forum members Street who was on the verge of scrapping some wings with the badging on it.
Need to give them a clean up, get some 3M tape and work out where on the wing they need to go.
The E86 won’t be lob sided anymore.
Thanks Street.

Carried out a bit of preventative maintenance on Sunday. Fitted a new serpentine belt and tensioner, replaced the diff oil and serviced the auto box.
The auto box didn’t go to plan. I wanted to replace the mechatronic sleeves and the bridge seal, but found that there is not enough room to gain access to the electrical connector sleeve, which has to be removed so that the valve body can be taken off. Had to settle for sump/filter and fluid change. To do the full job I think the exhaust and rear transmission mount will have to be removed to gain access to the connector.
A couple of pics:

Small amount of metal paste on the sump magnets

Not enough space to replace the electrical connector sleeve

Yes very impressive and even more impressed by how clean your hands are after all that oily work.

Thanks, it’s a messy job no matter how hard you try not to spill any oil, hence the plastic sheeting under the car! I think I went through about 20 pairs of disposable gloves.

Absolutely bugger all for the last three days been hacking up bathroom ceramic floor tiles that had cracks in, plan to replace with Vinyl this time around. Got to lay plywood sheet over original flooring before getting the flooring fitter in. The Z4 and Z3 haven't needed anything doing of late just got to get the floor fixed and use them.

Interesting. I always check the corrugated pipe but never think to look at that one!
