Dumbledown that looks terrific! Is it the same on each side too. Excuse my ignorance but I’m guessing this is not an E89 Z4? Id like to do something similar…
Yea same on both sides. Here’s a pic before I fully assembled entering. I sourced matching gray msfw buttons as well. And yes this is for an E85/86.

Where did you get your outside portion on the steering wheel done at?
Did you strip off the old cover or did they do it?
Looks really excellent! :driving:

I sent in wheel minus any trim or airbag. Royal Steering (UK) took care of rest.

Continued my rear end refresh with replacement of handrake shoes + cleaning, greasing and adjustment of the mechanisms. Don't have pictures of the job but here is what I found on one side and the other also had a chunck of detached material:

Tackled the RTAB replacement, bit of a fight to get the old ones out but so satisfying to get the shiny poly ones in. Old ones did not look too bad but were original, the twist you can get on the bracket by hand is greatly reduced.

Also managed to remove both post cat lambda sensors, also a fight; had to resort to heat and adding a hose clamp to the socket to ensure it did not slip... I will be able to hit the studs without worry for the sensors once my air hammer shows up :fuelfire:

Must be what mine would look like :D

Started fitting sound deadening inside the doors as I needed to replace foam inner door skin which was ripped, stripped the door down completely cleaned everything up,made 2 cardboard templates and cut to this, tried to fit sections in one but gave up on this because this ridex product(recommended)sticks like s**t to a blanket.Didn’t forget to disconnect the battery either.

[ref]Robster68[/ref], interesting project! I’d love to hear your thoughts on how much of an impact the deadening has made. Does the door feel heavier, sound less tinny, how’s the sound from the speakers, any less road sound, etc

Hi Barty,I thought this only affected pre facelift models, the door definitely feels more solid when you close it and more of a satisfying thud when you tap the outside,I’m going to do the door card also, seen a few vids on YouTube,I’ve got the carver top hifi n the car so I’m expecting good results.

Finally finished interior bits! Leather coated dash and console trims, plus the door handle covers. Sprayed centre plastics matt black (as they were scratched to hell), window switches and speaker grills and fitted new handbrake and gear gaiter from JF customs and new gear knob. Been a mission, but really pleased overall. Just in the process of spraying the roll hoop covers matt black too
