What have you done to your car today?

Picked my car up from RBM today. Full X8R vanos refresh, X8R DISA kit, new rear springs and RTAB, few little leaks sorted, new thermostat and engine, coolant, brake service.

£1500  but what a drive back home! Honestly feels like a completely different car. I knew my vanos probably needed some love after nearly 100k, but it’s absolutely transformed it. Throttle response feels so much better and pulls all the way through. Sport mode is almost scary now!

Given her a whole new lease of life and I feel much more confident driving, knowing all the little niggles have been sorted

new thermostat and engine

I`m not surprised it felt better after a new engine :)

I read it back to myself and thought ‘that’s not great grammar’ but then thought ‘I’m sure nobody will notice…’

It feels like a new engine :P

Trim pieces painted and nearly ready to go on. Bad light, but it is actually Maldives Blue to go with the car.

I'm liking the idea of matching the body work. Make sure you let us see once it's all fitted

Another vote for body-coloured interior panels
looks great!!

Can I ask where you got the pedals from? Any particular reason you didn't do the accelerator pedal?

Final piece in my trifecta of ‘must haves’ for my Z… heated, electric, m-sport seats, courtesy of Rob (Usel). Massive thanks to Rob, who went the extra mile (or 150 :o ) to not only transfer seats onto electric bases, but also swap over the occupancy sensor to make sure they worked properly and drive to sleepy West Oxfordshire to fit them for me. As Tim Nice-but-Dim would say ‘a thoroughly bloody jolly nice bloke’

I couldn’t be happier with them and they make the car an even nicer place to be!

[ref]Mr_E85Bim[/ref], got them from a Dutch BMW-related shop, but the fit and finish isn’t perfect particularly for the accelerator pedal so left that out. I’ll get myself an original set of BMW performance pedals at some point

I will. Barty’s are pro, but mine were done for chips in my cardboard paint shop.

haha I was doing my best to not mention your "paint shop"

Bartys interior is pretty special. Keep noticing stuff each time I look. That steering wheel!!

Nothing. I just wanted to claim the 12,000th post in this thread!

I'll never get this time back

I managed to get headlight washers working,I know a lot of folk don’t like them but I prefer everything to function on the car.

If you're so OCD about having the headlight squirters working then why in the name of all things totally irritating do you have a colour-mismatched front towing eye cover????!?!?!

Arrrrrrg! I can't bear to look at it!

Yes, that would be more annoying to me also. Like brown shoes with a black trousers.

When I bought it last year it was missing so picked one up from bmw and never got round to painting it,preferring to concentrate on all mechanical stuff first
