What have you done to your car today?

Have you got 2 gearsticks? :o

Good choice though

That’d be something! One for summer, one for winter..? :? No, the second box is something even better, and quite a lot bigger too: an AFe cold air intake :driving:

Decided it was time for a valve check. Only two that were ever so slightly borderline.

Glad to see the top end is still looking clean and varnish free after nearly 70k.

Next step is a thorough clean, after nearly 1000 miles of motorways the bug collection is pretty substantial!

Replaced the key battery, now I can lock/unlock the car from a distance again!

Here’s a video on how to do it.

I just purchased my Z4. I have been pressing the button but hear no locking/unlocking sound or the side light flash. My car only unlocks the doors if I'm within close proximity. Do you think the internal battery is dead?

It’s a fairly good sign that it will need replacing, hopefully with this video you will get your key working again.

Changed a wheel sensor to clear the ABS light!

When I retrofitting electric M-Sport seats some 15 years ago I had to add wiring from the fuse box and shamefully used non-oem connectors to connect to the seats' wiring. Now sourced the proper power quadlock crimp terminals and rectified the power wiring to use the X279 connectors like oem. This weight saving of several grams improves the power to weight ratio and for detailing, makes seat removal convenient.

Passed it's MOT yesterday with no issues, although on the advisories they listed "front brake pipes corroded but not weakened". All the brake pipes were replaced 12 months ago to get it through it's MOT :| Will need to get it up on ramps to have a look; no way they should be corroded already! It's hardly been used in the last year.

Belated clean completed and passed an ‘important’ milestone today!

I’ve been told I’ll grow up one day….

Well technically yesterday, but the Z4 finally had the paint correction detail I’d promised it two years ago!

Cannot believe how much better it looks and the Ruby Black really is stunning in the sunshine :)

Might have to look into getting the roof redyed now

Changed the drive end crankshaft oil seal
Fitted the new flywheel
Fitted the new clutch and release bearing etc.
Re fitted the gear box

Note to others that may want to do this themselves this is not easy on your own and on 4 axel stands in a single garage. Bit it is now in, JUST all the other little bits to re fit next weekend or the one after.

Changed my dipped beam bulbs out for Osram Night Breaker 200s as the passenger side bulb had blown. I'm still pretty underwhelmed by their output to be honest. I think I'll see if I can lift the headlights a little, but the projectors themselves could do with a clean too...

I think there’s a “roadworthy construction “ clause - I’m going to ask now!!!
