Off with the 108's and runflats and on with a lovely set of refurbished MV2 with MPS4s from BM Autosport. Well pleased and highly recommend this company - fair pricing, good service and very fast delivery While I was at it a new set of OEM bolts and wheel locks too.... actually there were no locks on the 108s Ride is so much better............

To be fair, ghastly runflats apart, the 108s aren't too bad and look good from a couple of feet away. They were refurbished poorly by previous owner and powder coated in one piece over the titanium bolts. Now I know that's one way to help prevent corrosion on these wheels, but no attempt had been made to fix the odd curbing scrapes first and I have trouble with that Sadly the Potenzas are nearly new too... probably keep this set for the Winter.

Also fitted my BMW TomTom off my old E89 - they were occasionally fitted by BMW on non iDrive cars. A mate printed one of the great mounts designed by Conrod - se thread "E85 Phone Charger and Amazon Echo Auto Mounts". Wired into an ignition switched supply - piggyback fuse and 12v to 5v inverter. Rock solid mount, works a treat thank you Alan

Ok, but the same still held true - I didn't think there was any way to get the roof up without a 3rd party device, which on the E85 is much cheaper (e.g. the RCH+) than the E89 smarttop option. If there's a way to code to get the roof up on an E85 I must have missed this revelation :lol: . Or am I just getting confused in my old age and with the E85 you could raise the roof but had to hold the button on the fob (as opposed to the 3 clicks with the RCH+). It's been a long time since my E85 days, and even the E89 is gone now so all the 'Zed' knowledge is slowly draining away...
I feel like that house guest that's overstayed their welcome...

You can code the E85's GM5 to open and close the roof with the key. I coded my 2003 with NCS Expert and it work pretty good most of the time and it even works with my aftermarket keys.

Done mine as well but using Carly. No third party device required
Admittedly the third party devices seem to be easier to use.

Had to do some dremeling and cutting, but finally fitted the Braum Racing Elite series seat on the driver’s side!!! I hadn’t seen any Z4’s with these before, so I wanted to try something new – but still maintain an OEM look to match the beige interior. The color is slightly off, but oh well… Will get the passenger seat later for the lady.

I reused most of the stock seatbelt harness, and need to find some good documentation on how to create the seat airbag bypass (apparently need some resistors and a diode but haven’t found the exact specs yet).

I used the planted brackets and a universal set of sliders, because I wanted some adjustability.

I love how snug and supportive it feels! It’s also a comfy seat and the leatherette has a decent texture. Hated using the stock seats for spirited drives and previous track days.

Busy day!

The new black 2.5 has now benefitted from:

Vanos seals, needle bearings and rattle rings
Rocker cover gasket
New water pump, thermostat, expansion tank
Oil and filter
New belts
New sparks
Gearbox oil change

Going to give it a wash then a long blast!

Removed the old under side front spoiler that had been trimmed to flat by previous owner and replaced with new. 4 nuts and job done. Actually gives a slightly better look to front of car, from a few metres away. OEM part ordered and arrived in 5 days from Latvia. Happy with that.

Finally got her up in the air for inspection after owning for a couple of weeks. Oil leaking from somewhere, currently suspect the rocker cover gasket (same symptoms as on my e36 328i). Cleaned off what I can to see where it reappears. (Telltale smoke/smell once she was back down - lifting the nose definitely exacerbates the problem for a few miles as the oil has cascaded backwards down the manifolds.)

Also removed the stupid CDV whilst I was under there, now I can change gear normally without looking like a prat. Hardest of the three I've removed (previously e36 328i, e87 118d), but still pretty simple.

Was going to look at the power steering motor adjustment, but discovered that just having the sport button enabled makes the stickiness go away so I'll just always put it in sport until it annoys me enough to go digging around the cabin.

Just had MPS4's fitted to the rear. Not impressed on the drive home, but then they will still be covered in gunk, no grip at all, so I will reserve judgement for a few miles yet. :wink:
