What have you done to your car today?

It’s not too bad, it was a case of buying the socket and bit of the loom, then soldered a male usb onto the lead and then plugged it into the rear of the head unit.

Thanks for that - but it sounds like it's beyond my limited skill-set.

Had a decent sunny day to fit my YSR coilovers and some Superpro adjustable droplinks today, also gave the engine bay a damn good clean and tidy up. Need to let the car settle for a while now, then geometry time!

After seeing how many people were happy with the smoother gear changes I treated myself to a weighted gear knob from Storm. It’s made a big difference but it’s like holding an ice block in the mornings though!

Car went into limp mode on startup last week (luckily not while actually driving). Pulled the codes and it was the High Pressure Fuel Pump. Yet another 'known issue' for the N54.... sigh.
Bought a new one and fitted it this morning. Seems to be working ok after a quick run around town (and a few pulls under boost), and codes are cleared. Pleased to be able to do it without removing the intake manifold, saved some time. Fingers crossed that was all it was.

Gave all the cars a wash, found a small scratch on the corner of the Mrs car. Waxed it out.

But

then found a chip on my drivers door, that has started to rust! What can I do it stop this, or is it a professional job?

A quick wash and dried with AG aqua wax. I love that stuff it looks like I spent hours on it :D

Did a bunch of mouse hunting, see this post for details if you're interested :P (https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1817697#p1817697).

Also put a new battery in. Changed from an 8 year old LION Batteries 60Ah 480CCA to a brand new Varta 77Ah 780CCA. The difference is unbelievable! Instant startup!

Unfortunately, as I was screwing the battery clip down I sheared one of the bolts. :headbang:

I should have seen this coming as the two bolts used were completely different and seemed pretty randomly selected a few owners ago when the battery was last changed.

Replaced the Valvetronic motor gasket and halfway through fitting a genuine BMW carbon fibre diffuser. Just need to put the bumper back on and will take some pictures tomorrow

Bit of sandpaper on an earbud, rub it back and forth, fill with paint and lacquer mix.

And i would use a bit Hammerite Kurust before the paint.

Woke it up finally (just!), and used it for a drive. I forget how much of a dinosaur it sounds on cold start. The garage doesn’t help the neighbours, nor does being between rows of tall houses :o

After not driving it for a while, it always feels so unique to get back into. From the steering, to the throttle response and revs! Michelin Super sports never fail to be skittish in the cold though!

That’s a great job, I can never get my Monaco Blue that shiny.

Fixed the drivers side headlamp washer. It wasnt popping up. Found the hose kinked, so it was a simple enough fix. Flushed out the filters in the washer bottle while I was fiddling about as well. Off for two new rear tyres tomorrow.
