What have you done to your car today?

Went to RBM this morning to remove the H&R Springs fitted by the previous keeper and go back to normal ride height. Big thanks to Ross for the great job; I was also reassured to be told that I had picked a good car :D :D No hidden problems or issues uncovered when they worked on the car.
Then went for a drive with the roof down in the Chilterns :driving:

Nice, pretty sure this is the car I saw on Facebook market place late last year. Always reassuring that an expert has given it a clean bill of health as the previous owner had it a very short time.... unless I’m mistaken, but very few in this colour Combo

Got a few things done in the last few days,
Front manky fog lights finally changed , at the same time investigated the reason for the headlight washers being disconnected (they seem to leak out of the actual spray nozzles on the headlight washers?)Never seen that before!

Sprayed the two metal bars infront of the radiator that had lost half their black paint.

Replaced the rear brake light, from a Chineseium one to a OE Hella, ( China one fitted better 🤷🏻‍♂️

And fitted the cruise control, absolute doddle to do, took all of 30 mins including running the wire out under the bonnet!

Also fitted a new focal amp to power the subs behind the seats. Need to still set it up, and then Rosie wanted to go for a spin 🤦🏻‍♂️

Trying to be helpful, so please don’t take this the wrong way.... but, as a fellow dog owner, have a look at the law around restraining dogs in cars. I wasn’t aware of it until one I’m my friends told me, police can issue big fines

Normally she has a harness and plugs into the seatbelt but we were only popping to the shops so didn’t get above 30. Bonus on her part as she could hang out the window pretty much all the way...

But had a strop when I closed the passenger window on the way back.

Spaniels 🤦🏻‍♂️

You are correct, the previous owner only kept it 3 months, which is always a cause for concern when buying a used car. However, he gave me a very good reason for the sale, and the service and MOT history spoke for themselves.
Of course I do feel even more confortable now after it has been inspected by RBM :D

Got mine out of the garage after hibernating for the last 6 months & let her warm up fully whilst I reset the tyre pressures. Not ideal letting her warm up that way I know but she's not taxed & is booked in for MOT on the 8th.
As I was checking her over I noticed a bit if smoke coming up from the exhaust manifold towards the rear of the engine. Not easy to see in the photo but there is an oil stain on the exhaust manifold heat shield. Failed rocker cover gasket I'm guessing?

Busy weekend, firstly a replacement passenger headlight fit, mine was cracked and full of moisture. The replacement had a broken adjustment post so both headlights taken apart to make one good one, PITA though :D
Fitted a scoop behind the grill made by one of our forum members (brought it that long ago I'm afraid I've forgotten who I need to thank for it!)
Cleaned the car.
Retrofitted cup holders.

As with almost everyone else in the country (since it was such a nice day) gave the Z4 a bath. Thought I may as well do the Fiesta while I was at it :P

PS No one hate me for my average car washing skills.

PPS The wheels are coming off and being done separately.

Replaced the old alpine headunit with a pioneer DEH 80PRS, originally a standard 6 speaker system, I’ve added OE speakers and the rear subwoofers powered off a Focal amp. Still more to do, but thumps well even roof down.

Forgot to add....
Also adapted a BMW Aux usb socket, so I can plug phones etc into the headunit without trailing cables everywhere.

Spent about 6 hours the other day detailing the car, then it rained the same night. Day after car was covered in dried muck and sand / dust (not sure if anyone else noticed this? Dust plum from a Saharan storm apparently, not sure how true that was though  ). Quick wash today and some AG rapid detailer, luckily it's still got the polished shine thanks to the wax protection

Had a busy day today detailing the 4 wheel arches (forgot to take pics) then a short drive as the sun was still out.

Not a good day. Taxed it. Took it for fuel and to check tyre pressures. Came back to house. Had lunch and suggested to wife we go for a short run with the roof off as it was nice and sunny. A few miles from the house the EML came on. Pulled over in the nearest farm lane and got the RAC to scuttle it off to the local indie BMW garage. Possible throttle position sensor, will find out tomorrow. Glad we were not too far away.

That's a really smart installation. How complicated was wiring it up?

And it's good to see another car with the rare Cirrus Aluminium trim - I had it in my 2nd Z4 and really liked it.
