What have you done to your car today?

Picked up on a slight leak from the brake caliper today, so going to go whole hog on the brake system as it's 16 years old now. So the following in en route:
Refurbished calipers - always found the stock brakes with good pads and fluid more than good enough so no point 'upgrading' and adding significant costs.
Kunifer brake pipe and tools - the rear pipes look like they're starting to go a bit, so I figure better safe than sorry.
HEL Braided lines - 16 year old rubber isn't confidence inspiring either, and braided lines cost basically the same as rubber ones it seems. Going 1 piece at the rear too, eliminating possible failure points.

Fun job to be had later this month!

Where in the North West are you. I am in M300JQ

As I have done all of the above, so if you need a hand let me know.

Very kind offer, I'm based in M33. However I'm pretty confident in doing this sort of work, the only question I reckon I'll have is the rear right pipe routing, over the fuel tank Insitu?

Cut the old brake pipe off where it starts to go across the rear diff carrier/fuel tank both sides then push it out with the new pipe then sort out both sides

It is easier than it sounds

My new thing is morning drives before sunrise. Cool morning temps. Sun not in my bloody eyes. And most of the idiot drivers fast asleep.
I leave here at 6 am for a 45 minute romp  I cover about 50-60 miles of back country mountain roads that puts a big smile on my old face. Get out of my way :driving:
Where's the 'Like' button?

Replaced the fuel cap tether. According to the package, it was posted 23 April and arrived today, just over 3 months later :o. It took so long that when I queried it last week the seller just refunded me. So now do I enjoy a free item or contact the seller to try to give them the £3.99 back? :?

Done. I have a warm fuzzy feeling now. I suspect the ebay seller will fall off their chair when they get the message

Replaced a Broken rear spring a couple of days ago, so booked in for the MOT re-test tomorrow morning... sadly haven’t had enough time to sort the two advisories but will address them over the winter Sorn’d period...

Had to pop into Halfords for some BBQ gas, so picked up a bottle of Meguiar’s soft top cleaner.

I had previously thought I’d be clever and so I ‘wet-vacced’ the roof on my latest Z last week with A Bissel Machine we have for our carpets, using the flexible tube and a couple of hand held attachments.... total waste of time, so don’t try this at home

As I was in Halfords, I thought I’d wander around the car cleaning products section (which is much better than it was a few years ago) and grab some Autoglym soft top cleaner, but they were out, so I thought I’d try the Meg’s stuff instead.

I’m not a big fan of Meguiar’s stuff, I really like some of their Pro Cutting and finishing compounds, but I find some of their Halfords level stuff to be a bit over hyped and over priced really.

However, I have to say, this roof cleaner is superb stuff. I worked it in over the entire roof with a very soft shoe-shine type brush (really soft bristles) and rinsed off with copious amounts of water, did the entire roof twice. Superb result, well happy, roof looks like new again

Rinsed, snow foamed, rinsed, washed, (two bucket method) rinsed, dried, G-Techniq C2 Crystal top. Blackened tyres.
Inside; AG Fast Glass, vacuumed seats & mats. Wiped down all surfaces, cleaned & treated leather.
Checked boot tool kit and items. Fed wire through ski hatch so i can plug my cool bag in.
Put away and covered over to keep the dust off until departure on Friday morning. Then its ROAD TRIP time!! :driving:

Pretty sure you restored somebody's faith in humanity today... we all need a little of that now and again.

Popped it in for the MOT re-test, so road legal again.

Pushed for time, so advisories remain for now, but will be sorted over winter

My stubby aerial arrived today - just need a Zed to put it on!! (Picking my first up tomorrow  )

Funny how times change. I remember in the late 80s/early 90s it was all about the B-sting. I guess stubby is the new B! :P

Oh dear..................and you were doing so well.

Enjoy your drive home tomorrow.

MOT today and passed but with some advisories of new front disks and pads. The BMW Indi I use has recommended using ceramic pads which are approx £15 more expensive and minimise brake dust. Does anyone have any experience of these?

I am a trade seller on eBay and I still get shocked on the very odd occasion someone honest comes back to me with situations like this, since these days most don't.
