What have you done to your car today?

Flushed out 15 years old coolant. Overall it didn’t look too bad but some small debris came out.

Attempted to remove the Intravee II and Alpine KCA-420i so I could install a GROM USB3 & BT to my car for Android connectivity.

I stripped the boot liner (unfortunately broke some clips on the way :headbang:, I had to disconnect the battery to shift it forward in order to reach the Alpine unit.

There were 2 other amps which I could not seem to move and a lot of wiring I didn't want to damage so decided to stop.

Is there anyone in the Essex area that might be able to help remove the Intravee and install the GROM? Happy to pay you for your time

My car is a 2006 MC has Nav, BT and DSP. Grom UK Support stated that they do not believe I will require the DSP convertor, but may need the system to be reprogrammed. Has anyone fitted a GROM unit to a car with DSP?

Stripped down the drivers seat I have just purchased to find what the problem was with one of the motors, and yes 3 teeth had stripped off it.

Nice easy repair using a 1mm drill bit and dremmel to make new teeth and it works perfect now.

Leather heated electric drivers seat for £30 nice work if I do say so myself. Plus £40 for the heater switch and £20 in fuel to fetch it but we can't count that in :D

Just need to find a heated passengers side for SWMBO.

I spent all day getting out every swirl mark on the coupe today.
Wash, clay bar, Menzerna Heavy Cut 300, then Final Finsih 3500 and then got as far as bonnet with Power Lock Sealant and the rain started.

Also, finished trying out tryres pressures, 18" PS4 all round, and using the 4 psi rule I am at 31psi front and 30psi rear. It has transformed the overall comfort and handling of the car.

I was at 34f and 36r and it was only because of the 4 psi rules I dropped as low as 31/30, but so glad I have.
What is the 4 psi rule please ? :o

Managed to bag one of these, don’t sell them anymore so was quite lucky and read good things about them. Not a full on harness obviously but the next best thing with the standard seatbelts. Will be testing out tomo at Abingdon :driving:

So, arranged to meet and old friend for lunch today up on the North Norfolk coast, he has a 997.2 C4S, so wanted to take the Z in case we went for a bit of a blat. However, still not convinced about the handling, so called STS at 8am to see if they could squeeze me in first thing for another Hunter alignment before setting off.

Went back to 0 toe in and removed the more aggressive settings to try with the lower tyre pressures.

To be honest I had decide the E86 just wasn't for me, had even advertised it, but wanted to give it one more try.

Glad I did, with the new pressures and zero toe all round and virtually no camber the car now feels so, so, so much more planted on the road. That gives confidence, and it is that confidence that allows you to keep speed up. I'm sure more camber and a bit of toe in might be better in the right hands, but to me it just felt far too nervous. It was tramlining like mad, I was constantly correcting the steering and it just felt too much like hard work, it was passed the point of being rewarding, it was effort and not much fun.

I enjoyed it so much today over the 80 odd miles of Norfolk B roads that I removed the advert for it. :D

I had the same issue (although it did not go as far as advertising my car :) ). Had new tyres fitted, and it got aligned as a Z4M setup (pretty aggressive) and was all over the road. Took it back and got them to lower toe and camber etc; same problem. Went to another tyre shop and he suggested lowering the tyre pressure - problem solved.

Treated it to a polish and glaze. Recent work done by Ross down at RBM in Hook. Fantastic service as ever, now in good nick ready for a trip up to Scotland next week.

I do like the shape of the older roadster Z4's, they have a kind of classic look about them...
Great number plate too...

What difference will this mod make to the sound of the box btw...

It is subjective but just the short drive last night
2db louder at tick over
Raspy under load
Pop and bang type of noise on over run
Sounds about the same on light throttle
Motorway cruising TBC

Still have the standard ones and will be keeping them in case I get tired of the modified ones (need to do the other one)

Yes I purchased the CSL,s and the Aero,s from a current member on the site last month but been so busy at work and not having the time to fit them any earlier.

Took it to meet some other Z4s at firebobby's AV8 breakfast meet - it's always good to just talk Z4s with like-minded owners for a couple of hours!

Then seeing as I lived in Stroud for just over a year back in the early 90s I went on a trip down memory lane on some of the good roads I remember from then. Took the A433 to Tetbury then joined the boring bit of the A46 towards Stroud (that's currently being resurfaced) and drove past my old house in Lightpill. I liked living there - just a shame my employer went bust. :(

Anyway from there I headed up over Rodborough Common before joining the A417 to Cirencester. I wish I could find some roads like those where I live now!

By the time I got home I had done 190 miles, which is the most I've done in a day since I got it in December - and loved every one of them. :driving:

But the 50 limit on part of the M4 has a lot to answer for - the average mpg on the OBC has gone up to 27.1!

I’ve had all four alloys and callipers re-sprayed, I’m very happy with the outcome. 😎

Callipers in Kawasaki green.

Before and after pics.
