What have you done to your car today?

Worked on rear brake shields and started painting the brake calipers (Estoril Blue, High temperature paint).

Added recently purchased GPS wireless speedo. Attaches by suction cap to windscreen or clips to an air vent. Works really well and only a very slight lag when you ‘put the boot into it’. Fitted just to side of direct field of vision and super easy to see. Could be slightly brighter with the roof down in the sunlight but can still be seen okay.

Fold marks... I can’t get rid of them.. :(

Took the car cover off today and moved the cars out so the garage could undergo a good cleaning figured I'd have some fun with the camera.

Wireless gps Speedo? Your cluster Speedo doesn't work? :?
Speedo works fine, however, I find from my preferred seating position that the speedo is difficult to see from about 60kph upwards(like in the photo). I did have the digital speed display in the centre of the cluster(which was a little small anyway) but a new DME, which is under warranty, and the advice was to not muck about with those electronics whilst under the warranty of 2yrs. This is bigger and more in line with my sight and wasn't too expensive IMO. ($95.00 Aus)

That's why I ended up paying out for new roof fabric. The fold marks are really detrimental to the overall appearance of the car. It drove me mental in the end

Feeling rather lazy with cleaning my car recently, we have a house building site down the road, so I'm cleaning it and within a week its just covered in dust and junk from the air again. Feels pointless when its not being driven...

Gave the car a full cut (bloody magpies had pecked away at it!!) Polish, wax and glaze as we can't go anywhere it can just look nice on my driveway!!IMG_20200405_132701.jpg

[ref]matthewpri[/ref] I don't think anyone typically has any rubbing issues with 10 mm spacers, but that is based on OEM BMW wheels. I hope the 10 mm items will push your wheels out far enough and fix the issue!

Hi James,

Hopefully that is the case! I have ordered them and they should be here by Wednesday, i'd much rather not show my idiocy but heres a photo of the issue with the 5mm spacers on the front.

Looks great- is that a scratch or excess polish on the rear?

You can improve that roof 100% with a few ££ spent on black shoe polish .
I've done all the roadsters i've had this way , some were a lot worse than others :(
That looks particularly bad but id say no worse than the silver MR i bought 2 yrs back which was truly shocking  get yourself some of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-Cherry-Blossom-Leather-Shoe-Polish-Black-Liquid-85Ml-Ready-Wax/223377754559?hash=item34025a09bf:g:PMkAAOSwz2lXBbAC . f
Cut the tops off & pour contents into a container then simply paint liberally onto the fabric with a 50mm paint brush ( after its had a good hoover , scrub , clean & is dry) .
Mask up paintwork before you start

Does the shoe polish trick mess up the roof fabric the way renovo does? I used renovo on my black roof and it left the fabric feeling quite coarse, almost like a sandpaper texture. It was awful.

No it leaves no trace of use other than its dyed the fabric black , 3 applications is about the most ive needed to do but id say that was a worse case than 1000rr has above , those shiny crease marks can also be removed with a green fleece + detergent but even after dye these can reappear with repeat folding of the roof .
Not all roofs are the same though in respect of excess creasing so possibly some are tighter than others :?
Id say its vital keeping them clean especially if they see a lot of weather ( ie not garaged )

As most others have done gave the old girl a wash .

Will it cover the shiney lines and will it last after downpours??

Cheers.

Once dried it wont run in the rain.
Can't say it will cover the shiny marks, you have to do your best at getting those out (or at least minimising their presence) & that is do-able
I also tried adding a sealer but in honesty I never felt it did that much.
Once you're on top of it it's easy enough to keep it that way.
Il try to find the pics of the worst one I had.
