Driven it from Farnham to Shalford to drop off some gifts for my friend who is working mega hours at the moment and whose Mum has cancer for the second time (this time terminal).
I haven’t driven it for two weeks, so it was nice to get out in it for a drive, even if the weather was appalling. It got some looks in the traffic so its good to know I can be a shocking poser, even in the pouring rain.

SORNed it. Might as well save tax payments for the next three or four months.

What have you done about insurance, just out of interest? Switched to laid up insurance or does your provider still cover it? Thinking of doing the same but just for December.

Haven’t done anything. It’s insured throughout the year and stated as garaged when not in use. It hadn’t crossed my mind to make any changes.

Worth checking. I’m insured with Admiral and they are notoriously inconsistent for this (although I’ve found them to be good, in general).

X4 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 all round fitted £420 Black Circles with current Michelin offer.
On standard 18” staggered alloys with 20mm spacer front / 15mm spacer rear.
Went to new sizes 245/40/18 rear, 225/40/18 front
Old sizes where 255/30/18 rear, 225/30/18 front
Might be helpful to people looking for setups as I was.

On standard 18” staggered alloys with 20mm spacer front / 15mm spacer rear.
Went to new sizes 245/40/18 rear, 225/40/18 front

After recieving a 1st year engine gasket, (aluminium) head, it was a no go. But a quick call back to Alan Skuse who are very handy, the sent out the correct gasket. Easy enough job although a socket was required from the shop to remove the VANOS motor. All good and done.
If you don't know, it was explained to me the 1st year engines had aluminium rocker covers and so the gasket is metal and doesn't have a lip. Comparing a new gasket to the old should tell you if it is right or wrong. The gasket I got was rubber and has a lip to slot into the plastic rocker cover. In case anyone didn't know.

This was in August up around the Wicklow area. Car had been smoking on and off, changed the gasket since then and all is good. Wasn't a serious smoke, only under hard driving but prevention is cheaper than the cure etc. Plus, any excuse to work on and learn more about mechanics.

20mm front spacers is quite aggressive - swop them front to rear and you'll probably find it alleviates the rubbing.

20mm front spacers is quite aggressive - swop them front to rear and you'll probably find it alleviates the rubbing.
I’m most likely going to have to take all spacers off and then work out from there. I’ve got 20,15mm spacer sets so will have a play around with them all and see what helps.
Maybe a 15mm on the front and rear
