What have you done to your car today?

After a very disappointing morning, I thought I would focus on cleaning the Zeds in my household, especially the E85 that was utterly filthy. Very satisfied to see both Zs looking their best!

Looking good, are you on the outskirts of Eton Wick?

They are £750, fitted. A bargain for the quality... the nearest other quote was £1200 for inferior quality ... :o

I’ve left my old seats there for now, so if anyone wants anything doing, just roll up, put my old seats in your car and leave yours there... you won’t be without a car. It only took 3 days, plus a week to order the leather as it was a special order... they are thicker, more padded and what they should have been from the factory...I’m chuffed to bits. Just the door cards to do now..

Yes, pretty much. If anyone asks where I live I usually just say Windsor as people tend to know where that is - Eton Wick not so much, Eton always brings up Eton College which is quite boring to talk about.

Thought I recognised the spot, lived in the village until I was 5. My father still does.... I believe!

That sign saying ‘Eton’ Wasn’t there then :D

Slight leak coming from the expansion tank so ended up getting all that off and refitting it. Hoping it's going to be leak free now as a right pain, though much quicker this time round.

Cleared the drainage bungs, they hadn't been done for a while:

By the way all the guides I have seen have you taking the wheel arch cover off and even the wheel in some cases. With the car jacked up I could just about get in there without doing either so might be worth a go first.

But despite clearing them and also getting a coat hanger down the plastic bin where the motor used to be to clear out what looked like pond water I still have a leak inside the car. This was when it was at its worst but still seeing a bit of water coming in. Any ideas?

Had a scuff on the side skirt when I bought the car so fitted another one. Will need to get some fixings for it though as reusing the existing ones worked ok but the rubber seal at the top isn't fitting completely flush. Fine for now but will bother me so will get hunting for the part numbers for the grommets.

Looks like a clone of mine, even has a stubby  . Different wheels though.
The water leak could be the membrane behind the door card has failed. If it's had the window motor repaired in the past the membrane would have been removed. It's very fragile, just thin polystyrene & I've heard of garages just ripping it off & not bothering to fit a new one. Something worth checking probably.
As for the side skirt grommets have a look here: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=BT52-EUR-07-2003-E85-BMW-Z4_30i&diagId=51_4862

Excellent taste

Thanks for the part number, that's really helpful. Will get those ordered.

Will have a look into the membrane cheers. I've had the car about 6 months now and it's only just started leaking so assuming something will be there and it's a case of it failing rather not not existing otherwise would it have not been an issue from the start? I found a few drops on the drivers side too, in exactly the same place.

Changed the cabin/pollen filter this morning and the old one was dated 2006, so it was due a change. Car has FBMW service history. Forgot to do that bit then, I wonder what other bits get forgotten and possibly charged for.

Also changed my cabin filter today - dated 2013 so up to 40k miles old. Mahle filters start off a bit grey anyway but plenty of debris in the housing.

Dunno if i've missed it but where did you have them done ,thats a great job

Well, not really today but last Friday arrived in Spain after our relaxed drive down. Me and my rescued Bodeguero Rey Ian’s my partner and the other three rescues in her Juke (not to my taste!). Now for 3 weeks of R&R and hopefully a drive or two. I’ve hooked up with a local group of Z4 enthusiasts and they have promised to take us out on a nice route round the mountains.

Retro fitted cruise to my M 😊
I,ve ordered the retrofit kit today, what sort of job was like to do? Reading past posts it looks relatively straight forward.

Very straight forward, got the loom from srhutch and he gives comprehensive instructions. Not a fan of messing with electrics but this was just plug and play essentially. 😊

First full valet for my new coupe today. So pleased how it’s scrubbed up.
The blue leather was so dirty it looked black, a leather foam cleaner and a feeder have soon sorted them out.
Paint work has also cleaned up better than expected. I’m a happy man.

my old car! to be fair 176k on those seats they dont look bad ;) i already took the seats out and scrubbed them, the previous owner was a heavy smoker was trying to get rid of the smell.

Changed the cabin filter. Seems the previous owner hadn’t for a while. Worth the £10 and five minutes :D

Brought her back to life. Well not today but over the past 10 weeks. Bought from a salvage auction dead as a doo doo and spent 10 weeks and many spondulis restoring her. Not done yet but she’s on the road with an mot. Full thread here https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=115537
I’m so pleased with the result and I love her!

[ref]Ben S[/ref], don't be too impressed by the blackness of the filter. Some of them contain activated carbon to neutralise odour and some chemicals from traffic fumes
