I appear to have a problem with my bonnet catch, so spent a while trying to fix that. Whilst everything was open, transformer style, I took a quick photo as Instagram loves this sort of thing
Spaniarduk said:[ref]wyshyvanuk[/ref], those 16 that you replaced, where they out of spec by much? And any specific cylinders or just at random locations?

None of the adjustments required more than .04mm increase in shim thickness. In other words, just one "step" up from the installed shim. I didn't notice any specific cylinder patterns, but I was more than moderately concerned with getting the individual valves correctly adjusted to avoid grenading a rather expensive engine. Took what seemed like eons of time, and then re-checked all the clearances. Starting the engine after the adjustment required a glass of chilled chardonnay to "take the edge off".

Hello, can you tell me how you got your 107 alloys to that color? Did you send them off or do them yourself?
Thanks
ben g said:Hi, I had them professionally refurbished by a company called Paint it uk in Billericay, Essex. It's a light shadow chrome finish
Davz said:Fitted some alloy pedal covers. I got these about 6 months ago but never got round to fitting them. These are for an E46, paid a whole $17 from Aliexpress! Thought I'd got a bargain, I knew I had to modify the footrest on the bandsaw but stupidly thought the brake and clutch would be the same as an e46.....thanks bmw, the z4 are smaller! I had to make a couple of brackets to make them fit and was a pita getting the nuts onto the bolts, very fiddly as they are just M3 and had to be shortened, my knees are feeling it now! Apologies for the use of M pedals, that was all that was available at the time.

In my car I'd have better luck finding the quiet bits  :lol:tomrdy said:Got under the car to chase down a rattle/buzz near the exhaust. Suspected the aluminum splash guard's screws so tightened those down - rattle went away for a bit then came straight back.
Scratched my head a bit and decided F*** it and removed the splash shield. Discovered that the little clips that go into the reinforcement plate (and take the screw for the shield) were a bit loose, meaning that no matter how tight I screwed it down, they would have a little bit of play.
Stretched them back out and HAMMERED them in. Seems to have fixed it ... for now... 8)
Then went inside the car to chase down another vibration. Ever since the new exhaust, there has been a random vibration at a certain engine load which I originally thought was the one I fixed in the morning - but now I'm certain its inside the cabin.
Started removing everything from the storage compartment at the back.. I think it was the pen....
STAY TUNED FOR ANOTHER EPISODE OF: FINDING THE RATTLE.

As discribed Rob. Lovely little pub just around the corner from the church. One way in and one way out. We stopped off for our last cuppa, on the walk, at Dunard's head. Being the odd ball I am, I climbed to the very top and took in the view. 8) Whist the walk leader checked his insurance out down below. :wink:Smartbear said:buzyg said:Had a nice drive down to Zennor, near St Ives.
