What have you done to your car today?

Swapped it to this

Very nice - I suppose it'll have new wheels next week!

I think I'll keep this one standard. I am sick of buying z4s that drive really nice and then totally ruining them with cheap coilovers and stretched tyres! Could go for a set of csls tho at a push :driving:

Oil changed, and filter
cabin filter
air filter
put new fogs in with osram nightbreaker bulbs
new bumper clip, was easier than i though it was going to be

Next free weekend full outside clean polish wax :|

That didn't last long

I'd love a coupe, but it feels a bit pointless buying another impractical 2 seater

Swapped cars with my dad for this weekend. Love the high driving position, hate the terribly underpowered diesel engine (which I actually manufacture in my work) feels good to not have to worry about every tiny bump in the road!

Beast 8) does it come with a chauffeur that looks and acts like Jason Statham? Proper mob boss motor 8) 8) 8)

Had a nice drive down to Zennor, near St Ives. What a glorious day. A good walk along the coast path. Then headed home along the coast road, followed a lovely AMG SL63 for several miles. Neither of us were in a hurry just enjoying a roof down day on some great driving roads. 8) :D

Gave it a much needed wash, as I was quite embarrassed with the dirt and bird crap sitting on the bodywork when Worcester_spoon came to pick up the alloys yesterday

I appear to have a problem with my bonnet catch, so spent a while trying to fix that. Whilst everything was open, transformer style, I took a quick photo as Instagram loves this sort of thing

Hello, can you tell me how you got your 107 alloys to that color? Did you send them off or do them yourself?
Thanks

[ref]wyshyvanuk[/ref], those 16 that you replaced, where they out of spec by much? And any specific cylinders or just at random locations?

None of the adjustments required more than .04mm increase in shim thickness. In other words, just one "step" up from the installed shim. I didn't notice any specific cylinder patterns, but I was more than moderately concerned with getting the individual valves correctly adjusted to avoid grenading a rather expensive engine. Took what seemed like eons of time, and then re-checked all the clearances. Starting the engine after the adjustment required a glass of chilled chardonnay to "take the edge off".

hahaha hahaha. I've gone through the process in my head in several occasions and I must to the fact that every single time the thought of starting the engine for the 1st time after the job creates in me the need to swallow my b@lls down to where they belong!!!  :exitright:

Well done once again mate

Hi, I had them professionally refurbished by a company called Paint it uk in Billericay, Essex. It's a light shadow chrome finish

Thanks Ben G. I will see if I can find a professional company in Canada that does that too. Light Shadow Chrome noted!

Fitted some alloy pedal covers. I got these about 6 months ago but never got round to fitting them. These are for an E46, paid a whole $17 from Aliexpress! Thought I'd got a bargain, I knew I had to modify the footrest on the bandsaw but stupidly thought the brake and clutch would be the same as an e46.....thanks bmw, the z4 are smaller! I had to make a couple of brackets to make them fit and was a pita getting the nuts onto the bolts, very fiddly as they are just M3 and had to be shortened, my knees are feeling it now! Apologies for the use of M pedals, that was all that was available at the time.

Nice work tho’ 👍

Got under the car to chase down a rattle/buzz near the exhaust. Suspected the aluminum splash guard's screws so tightened those down - rattle went away for a bit then came straight back.

Scratched my head a bit and decided F*** it and removed the splash shield. Discovered that the little clips that go into the reinforcement plate (and take the screw for the shield) were a bit loose, meaning that no matter how tight I screwed it down, they would have a little bit of play.

Stretched them back out and HAMMERED them in. Seems to have fixed it ... for now... 8)

Then went inside the car to chase down another vibration. Ever since the new exhaust, there has been a random vibration at a certain engine load which I originally thought was the one I fixed in the morning - but now I'm certain its inside the cabin.

Started removing everything from the storage compartment at the back.. I think it was the pen....

STAY TUNED FOR ANOTHER EPISODE OF: FINDING THE RATTLE.

I’ve had lunch in the pub there a few times, tiny road into the village from memory :o

As discribed Rob. Lovely little pub just around the corner from the church. One way in and one way out. We stopped off for our last cuppa, on the walk, at Dunard's head. Being the odd ball I am, I climbed to the very top and took in the view. 8) Whist the walk leader checked his insurance out down below.

My Zed developed a little misfire last week then two day ago on the motorway the engine like cane on and it sounded like it was about to self destruct!! Limped home feeling like an idiot. Managed to find a garage that could and would hook it up to the diagnostics and found cylinder 1 had a misfire. Ordered a new coil and fitted for 68 quid. That did the trick and back to a smooth engine. What a relief!
