Swapped the factory Xenon projectors for a set of Morimoto Mini D2S 4.0s, it feels like I've strapped floodlights to the front of the car! The difference is insane, even using the same bulbs and electronics. So much more light and a razor sharp cutoff

UK, and everything is legal yes. Literally just replacing the factory xenon projectors with a different unit. Available in both LHD and RHD format, in fact LHD is much easier due to direct replacements being available rather than requiring brackets.

I bought mine in the UK from EM tuning, some of the parts aren't listed so I spoke to them. However I wouldn't use their brackets again, they needed extensive modification so no point paying for them, rather get the TRS ones imported.
It's the E55 Hella "RETRO-QUIK" set you'll want from TRS, which includes projectors and brackets. You'll also want the optional bulb holders if you want to maintain the factory ignitors

Seems to be a symptom of small cars, everything stacked up on top of everything. Had a DS3 before the Z4 and replacing the oil filter involved taking off most of the intake system!
Driven from Norwich to Gothenburg (over the last 3 days), 978 miles covered, which took me past 140,000, max speed on Autobahn 133 (according to sat nav), far too much traffic to get it flat out. Highlight so far is going over the Øresund Bridge.
