What have you done to your car today?

Had the refurb'd wheels I bought from ScoobyR1 fitted yesterday. Gave her a thorough clean today & took her for a roof down blast :driving:

I gave the car a thorough clean, polished the exhaust tips and lubricated all the hinges and catches with GT85. Always nice to have a clean car!

Always wanted a pair of these on my car, but I hate the way the ends stick out from the sideskirt. If both ends were finished the way you've done the rear part on your's, I'd buy them

Should have gone for the ones we got on the group buy

Those protrude too far at the front for my liking  if the front was like the rear part, I'd have bought them.

Replaced my ruined oem sacks front shocks with Bilstein B4's and Lemforder top mounts today. The difference is incredible. To be honest though, the original shocks were so bad I wasn't able to do more than 60mph as it would bounce up and down. Upon removal, we could tell which shock had failed as we could move the tube up and down very easily. I re-used my existing eibach springs and oem bump stops, as they were in great condition.

She seems to sit a little higher now, but I guess that's the trade off for a better ride.

I haven't done the rears yet, that's next weekends job. You can see the offside rear sits quite low, that's because that shock needs replacing as that too has failed.

I also removed the hardtop this evening. It had been on my car for almost a year! I've missed top down motoring, so I'm looking forward to the drive to work tomorrow, weather permitting.

Washed mine after popping battery charger on for an hour so I could start it up and move it, then took it to garage and poured in some super unleaded then drove it home again with the roof down :driving:

thought I'd posted this already

spotted a puddle of coolant and a drop in expansion tank. Diagnosed as water pump. replaced today and test drive 20 miles. No coolant loss and perfect heater and temperature.

Gave it a wash, polish and hoover to make up for leaving it on axle stands all week. Was meant to be a proper detail but didn’t fit it in what with the brake hiccup. Looks a lot better than it did though.

It's just how I've mounted them. Others like JINGLE have gone much more conservative

Changed the differential and gearbox oils today. The diff oil was straw coloured and looked OK, the gearbox oil was black after 55,000 miles. Sealed for life? I don't think so. "Life" probably means until the BMW warranty has expired, then you are on your own.

The gearchange was fine before but it feels slightly smoother now. These jobs are worth doing.

Purchase a hard top from a very nice member Dan.

Going to paint it Monday :)

Very dirty pic after 240 miles lol
No doubt you've been asked this before, but can I have the specs (including offsets) on your wheels please?

Morning,

Sure thing, the are:

19", 9.5j et27 - rear
19", 8.5j et38 - front with a 15mm spacer

..And the brand/model?

Washed and waxed my Z4MC (and my wife’s i3) :)
thanks for your help Peter-E36

I love that red hood

My 30th in may might see if the Mrs fancies treating me :D

Painted my new hardtop. It’s still wet at this minute but I think with a wet sand and polish tomorrow night it will look very well :)

Car passed its MOT, couple of minor advisories (headlight condensation and badly scruffed o/s alloy) so happy days. Also had a quick clean :D Used a company called in IN-n-OUT Autocentre, very impressed with their level of service and just like Ronseal.

Looks superb that ! Did you spray that in your garage ? I've got a compressor, spray gun and all the gear in mine but no way could I get such an excellent finish if I tried ! Can't beat a matching hardtop :D 20171102_135649_Richtone(HDR).jpg

Today I took the plunge - when I purchased my car just over two weeks ago it came with two run flat Bridgestone tyres on the front and two Acceiera non run flats on the rears. I could feel some vibration coming from the rears at seventy despite having the balancing done last week. So I had a read around this forum and the general wisdom appeared to be ditch the run flats, buy a pump with some glup for punctures and fit a set of non run flat Michelin SP4s, so that’s what I have done, only driven back from the tyre garage so will let you know what I think once I have been on a bit of a journey.
