What have you done to your car today?

put on some new rear tyres today... Federal 595 RS-Rs in 255/35/R18 size. They were to replace the previous pair that I flat spotted... locked the rears at 100mph down the back straight at Bedford GT - did a neat 720, but luckily never left the black stuff!

the car is now nearly ready for first trackday in January - just need a wheel alignment.

Been meaning to change the headlight bulbs for months but being to lazy to do it. Today my passenger side main beam bulb decided to go pop so ended up replacing them with Philips Xtreme Vision PLUS 130% Extra Light. Lets hope I can see the roads a bit better now.

Been for a spin across Dartmoor, What a lovely day up there today. :driving: Then washed all the muck off from the Wales trip. Don't think I've seen it that mucky before.

big day for me yesterday, me and a mate went through and:

Fitted new brake pads all round (EBC Bluestuff)
Bled the brakes with fresh DOT4 fluid
Checked coolant and air filter for condition
Swapped all the locking wheel nuts for normal ones
Fitted the towing eye

only things left are get new track tyres installed on the rims, and a wheel alignment, and then we're ready for first trackday, which is hopefully going to be Bedford GT on Sat 20th January if anyone fancies coming along
When you say fitted the towing eye, do you mean that silly bit of nylon hanging off the front of your car like a boggie? If so, why?

no the proper towing eye... need it to work properly should i need to be towed out a gravel trap! fit it once, then leave it on all the time. because track car.

Been major going over last weeks, and cost!.

DIY work
MTEC grooved and drilled discs all round with Mintex pads.
Replaced brake fluid with DOT5.1

Independent BMW specialist work,
New Front lower bushes, tie rod and track control arms.
Tracking
Self leveling head light link broken !
Inspection 2 Service/45K mile service
MOT.

So it now stops nicely and steers in straight line without needing constant micro adjustments, Has new MOT and service booked up to date.
Had previously put the Scorpion exhaust on and has new Avon tyres.. It's DD, with hardtop and winter tyres/wheels on there way today.
Hopefully it's well sorted for many miles/years to come.

Mike did some work on my 330d tonight,

Clutch delay valve removal
Propshaft donut
Tightened exhaust clamp

Wow it's like a differnt car, can't belive how worn the donut was, it basically fell to bits on removal, so much tighter now, it's tightened up the drive train no end coupled with the cdv removal it drives well for 212k!

Now, where can I go to post a thankyou thread? :tumbleweed:

What was the symptoms of the prop shaft donut failing Jay?

I am getting a slight 'knock' when i let off the gas. All the bushes have been checked and are fine.

could well be that mate, mine was thumping going into gear in lower gears from the rear, and as you say, coming off the power it felt a definite thud

Ok mate, could be the cause then. I shall investigate :)

Replaced the broken bonnet bump stop with a new one, and it seems like that was the cause of my noise all along. And there was me changing struts, bushes and top mounts trying to get rid of it!

In fairness the struts and bushes were well worn so it needed doing regardless, but I feel like my car is pretty much spot on now!

I didn’t get a chance to winter prep the zed in time this year so today I made up for it as I’m off to Amsterdam in the zed tomorrow morning :D

Nightbreaker unlimited bulbs went in, I also flicked the switches for the lights to be eurofied.

Next up were the wheels, they got a wash polish and wax off of the car. While the wheels were off I jet washed the arches, scrubbed them and made sure the drain holes are in a good way - they were anyway.

Gave the roof a good shampoo and scrub, knew it wouldn’t be dry in time for proofer so will probably keep shampooing it until it’s proper clean and the weather cheers up a bit.

Wash, Clay, polish, two coats of wax on the car and rain- x on the glass.

Pretty happy with that for a days work!

Can’t wait to get up and head to the Euro Tunnel knowing she’s sparkling inside and out.

I polished my headlights with the meguires kit. I did it about two years ago and needed doing again.

I also had a quick look at why my air recirculation flap wasn't working. Took off the panel for micro filter and found the valve, and a connector hanging down.
Plugged back in and all works fine now. Don't know how long that was like that!
Cheap fix though. :D
