What have you done to your car today?

No no, just taking one of the bits of foam out. Thought I'd see what the fuss was all about.

try removing the other end too, I only did the small foam bit(closer to the cabin) and at higher revs(I'd say above 4k) it does sound more throaty..

I removed both bits and loved the sound......until it got a bit boring and intrusive. So i put one bit back and now i find that the perfect compromise.

yup that's exactly what I've heard from other members who did it so I went along and only removed one side! might try both for fun easy enough to re-install.

It was freeeeeeeeeezing on the weekend, so decided to do it in 2 sessions to stop myself from getting frozen

The turbo should help silence it a bit, the impellor takes the "sting" from the exhaust gases, reducing the sound levels

That is the eventual plan!! Plus the noise from it as is will spur me on to get the turbo on in the mean time!!

Today I returned to the bmw dealership for the wheel runout test, my cracked alloy sailed through with less than 0.5mm distortion
I later received an email saying a goodwill replacement had been turned down as my car was 3months out of warranty :thumbsdown:
I won't lose any sleep over it as I've got a repair and refurb appointment later on this week.

Normally my Mondays (day off) are spent cleaning the car, but seen as my hose pipe is frozen, I went for a game of golf.... what has that got to do with my z4... well I was amazed that I managed to get my clubs, and electric trolley and some food shopping (wife's orders) all in the car! Boom.

That said, does it indicate that the wheel didn't receive a major blow large enough to deform it in order to crack it? And, therefore, that the crack may well be the result of structural weakness?

They followed up the passing of the test requirements by refusing a goodwill replacement, because my car is 3 months out of warranty & the 326 style wheel's not a problem wheel according to bmw :roll:
I'm philosophical about it & looking forward to my wheel refurb later this week
