What have you done to your car today?

Gave my seats the 'Wonder Wheels - Leather Clean and Feed' treatment:

zedseats.jpg

Busy day with clay bar and wax. Also cleaned and fed the leather. Tried looking for the BT pairing code by removing the speaker cover and looking through the gap, but no joy.

Blasted over to Leiden from Vleuten for a cheeky pint and a pie with a mate at the North End pub.
difficult to refrain from having more than one pint but when ur in the motor of course one must be responsible and adhere to the laws of the land *taps side of nose*.

Couple of hours later and made my way back home the long way....via Amsterdam

Once back home I got around to coding back the 'dink' noise when locking the car as it's caught me out a few times - having to double check if the car was locked etc.
If it doesn't go 'dink' when i plip the centre keyfob button then obv that means that i didnt close boot/doors properly and I've been missing that.
Other than that - checked oil, still no top-up required after approx 2300 miles since replacing the CCV system. groovy.

deepcleaned the windscreen with wire wool and my supersecret mixture of demineralised water, washin up liquid and white vinegar. Then gave a coating of rain-X.

tried yet again to BT pair the phone with car without success. it connects, then just as quick, disconnects again as though taunting me. grrr. :x

Was going to clean it but.....

The day started clear in Norfolk; a cool 4 degrees C so we thought 'what the hell' and went for a run to the coast. Dropped the top for the first time since picking it up a couple of weeks ago and was surprised how hot you can keep the inside of the car even in this weather - didn't even put a coat on  - bit different from the 7 which has no heater at all and normally no side screens or roof.

So got a little more dirt on it from our rural roads

About a 100mile round trip and made it to within a few miles of home before the rain caught us and the top had to go back up. Oh yea - all clean now!!!

Mmmm, ok, So the lights turn green you've just started to lower the roof and the traffic pulls away. You're not going to be popular driving at 3mph from a set of lights while your roof drops. Lot's of abuse and horns.

I've got a Smarttop module on my car so the roof will operate up to 25mph.

Is operating a softop at 25mph risking damage?...BMW advise against opening and closing the softtop while moving. I'm sure you've done your homework and exacted the figures of probable wind speed x motion and surface area and wind pressures etc etc..Lol....But something tells me not to attempt such a maneuver without the probability of excess stress being placed on said fabric and moving parts. Good luck tho'. If it starts to rain and my tops down I pull over and put it up. I tend to put it up at the first sign of rain.

Mines an E89 with a folding tin top!

Took advantage of a nice morning and had a good drive out. Nice to get the the top down and enjoy driving the car. Then gave it a clean this afternoon.

Bumped it on a rock while reversing out of a parking bay. :x

Went in search of supposedly the 3rd best driving road in the England - the A591 from Kendall to Keswick...I can tell you it definitely isn't the third best road!

That's a kick in the spuds Dan  too much scone & cream losing your concentration
Which roads are No2 & No1 ?

Finished the exterior detail.....Clay bar and Clay mitt, Machine polish using Farcela 6 then 10, polished and waxed using Maguires. Very happy with the result. :D, next job will be cleaning all the shut lines and nooks and crannies where the polish has got into. Following that it will be fitting the new discs and pads, then 19" CSL's when I get them.
Dave.

The 'clotted' cream must have clotted my brain!

1. A stretch of road between Holmes Chapel to Alderley Edge
2. B3515 from Cheddar to Ashwick

Pitlochry to Braemar through the Cairngorm,s probably my favourite 40 UK miles but its 300 miles away so i make do with the Ribble valley or Bowland fells much closer to home :driving:

What about Bewts-Y-Coed? Andy? thats got to be up on the list :)

I can vouch for Pitlochry to Braemar. We first did the west coast which was great, but this was just on another level.

Will need to get back there in Z4MC :D

does anyone have any idea what size the boot badge on my coupe(the boot handle combo thing) is and how does it even get removed ? I can't see any screws etc but mine has some marks and it's bothering me.

Today i cleaned the windows, applied some rainex (never used it before) and finally applied the all important Z4 forum sticker.

Very nice Colin, I see your seats originated from an M car :P
Rob

Well spotted Rob, yes bought them from dannyg_m3 straight out of his Z4M as he was swapping in racing seats :)
Whats with your alloys - I thought they were already on the car?
