What have you done to your car today?

Gave my SI a good clean today after a few updates over the past couple weeks. New PS4s on the front, PS5s on the rear, all alloys refurbed to gloss black (was silver before), and probably most controversially, got the back box straight piped. Sounds wicked :fuelfire:

IMG_1995.jpegNot today but yesterday, sailed through the MOT with no advisories. Then cleaned it after returning last week from our tour of Switzerland & the Black Forest in Germany.
Went out in it this morning to be greeted with an airbag fault light on the dash. Think I may have disturbed air bag connector under the passenger seat while slotting first aid kit back in 😠

Loaded up the E86 with 4 no. MV2s and a load of keys... the MV2s have been dropped and are now being refurbed.

A Fiesta key got a new battery, a Mitsubishi key got a full refurb and a replacement Z4 key got set up so the remote works... this follows last week when I was in the same place getting my other Mitsubishi key refurbed and my original BMW key set up with the remote locking. At the start of last week we were a three car household with only one car key that was fully working with zero issues, and one car (the Mitsubishi) which had zero working keys and wouldn't even start. I thought I was going to need a new second key for the Mitsubishi, but on Saturday morning I managed to find the missing transponder in amongst the dirt in the carpet under the ignition.

Under £100 total for everything key related above.

Put new wheels on.
I'm not 100% sold on the look now they're on, I think I preferred my old 108s. But, they were not even close to round anymore, and I've had to refurb them twice in my ownership already and cannot be bothered to do a third time, so decided on a change.
Drive home was so much smoother with round wheels again, so in that respect I'm more than happy.

Yeah agreed they look good, and light? Maybe some bmw centre caps to look more Oem?
Lovely looking zed, in the best colour!😀

Yeah, kicking myself a little about that. I meant to ask them to put the BMW centre caps on the new wheels but forgot - I spotted a cafe near the wheel shop on my way in and was preoccupied with getting a bacon sarnie in me, so dropped it off and headed straight off to the cafe.
Didn't remember til halfway through my sarnie and by the time I got back two of the wheels were on and didn't want to ask him to take them back off again and switch the caps out.

The OEM caps are rattling around in the passenger footwell somewhere so can go back on next time the wheels are off.

Had a rather productive day on the Z.
I fitted new wipers and new brembo brake pads all round, as the fronts were wearing thin causing the warning light to come on, and it didnt cost much more to do the rears at the same time. (i also had no service history to let me know when they were last done). as it turns out the rear pads were about half way worn and the sensor untouched. I still swapped them out for new though, given that I'd done all the work to get to them.

I did have to re-use the old rear sensor as the wire on the replacement Pagid sensor I got from halfords is nowehere near long enough, worked fine for the fornt though. not to shabby for about two and a half hours work.

The biggest pain in the arse of it was because *someone*, definatley not me, parked an immobile lotus on the driveway, I had to do the work on the road ouside the house. so did the left hand side then turned the car around to do the right hand side so I could be working on the pavement, as opposed to in the middle of the road

Gave her a quick wash, then to bed in the brakes and verify there were no issues with the work carried out I took a "test drive" over to caffine and machine, it was a fairly good evening and had a look round a Z3 and a Z3M coupe that turned up.

obligatory pic of mine sat at C&M.

Went for a drive to Bovey Tracey then onto the moors, stopped in a car park to drink our coffee and look at the horses and new foals. Very nice, until the smallest one came over and started licking the rain water off the top of my nearside wing. :o Worried it might jump up to get the rain from the bonnet, not so nice. Started engine and it ran off, drama over.
