Nice little leather care applied to the seats! :D
Sorted the passenger side mirror that had a slight movement when driving, wish I'd done a search how to put it back on before I'd started! All fixed now thankfully just needed locked back into place!

Replacement horns ordered, one is definitely on the way out as the tone changes almost immediately after use, sounds like it's dying.

Just sticking reasonably OEM and getting Bosch parts, apparently the plug on the back is interchangeable so we shall see. Otherwise it's not hard to crimp on some spade connections.

Resprayed steering wheel spoke covers as they had the typical wear showing through.
My threepenneth is that they can be removed without taking off the hornpush/airbag.Take a torx20 to the screws behind the spokes, then wiggle the covers up and out from behind the hornpush.
I have used Tamiya acrylic thinner, matt black and several coats of matt clear thinned to give a strong scratch resistant coating.
The modellers on here will get this, and it is likely to last for years :D IMG_20180405_174718.jpgvIMG_20180405_174718.jpgf
Looks great, especially with the wood dash. :)

Thank you Sir.I would have specd the all black and poplar if I'd bought her new,it adds a certain air of gentleman(cad)sporting carriage to the beast. The other guys all need the wood, but they just dont know it! :poke:

Oh so true

today i woke up n it was a lovely day, thought great, i'll take the Z4 out.

Got in it, went to put roof down - red light of doom... great.

Got to the first junction - no clicking from indicators or dash lights for the indicators... also wonderful

get on the M6... this isnt right shaking violently from steering and rear end .. .feels like all 4 of my newly refurbed 108s are buckled!!

gets to Mikes unit in wigan, started undoing split rim bolts.... car fell off the jack and snapped the tyre valve off deflating the tyre

wheels have been powdercoated as well as all mating faces (which i asked him not to do) so ground off all the paint on the mating faces to get the rims to sit togeother flush

get in car to go home... dash lit up like a christmas tree, ABS traction control handbrake and RFT light on... also no speedo , i must have damaged the wire when it fell off the jack.

All in all, not a great day

Christ Jamie, sounds like fun!

On my end, Carly seems to have had a bit of a facepalm recently, engine parameters are no longer showing as discovered when I attempted to monitor coolant/engine temperatures after filling system, and its decided I have a fault with the DMTL pump detecting fuel leakage.... a pump that's only fitted to US market cars, I might add

Really should bring my laptop out more often doing this work!

The code it's throwing out is 27C3, which in EU model cars points to the oil level sensor, but at the same time its also supposed to trigger a permanent oil warning light if so, who knows! Will scan it with INPA at the weekend and if this isn't just software inventing faults...

omg Jamie if you had any luck it would be bad sounds like a mr bean film oh well as they say things can only get better (you can hope) on a brighter note car looks well :D

Stubby aerial fitted, carpets shampooed now sitting with the roof down waiting for them to dry before the new mats being put in.

Wheels getting refurbed tomorrow! :-)

I spent an evening a couple of days ago stripping out the rear interior trim in my coupe, before sending to a local specialist today to have the pile of new suspension parts fitted that I’d accumulated over the winter months and wimped out of trying to fit myself.

So today it has been treated to:

New Sachs shock absorbers with top mounts all round
New upper spring platforms and rubber pads on the front
New Suplex rear springs
New front rack rod ends and drop links
New Poly rear trailing arm bushes.

Whilst they were doing that lot, they discovered the rear anti roll bar was broken, so it’s now had a new one of those too!

It then went for full four wheel alignment, to original OEM spec so I can see how it handles before experimenting with any changes suggested here on the forum.

Initial impressions are that the annoying low speed rumble has finally gone, likely to be due to a previously diagnosed slop in the front RH shock, but equally could be connected to the ARB issue, and the steering is a bit less twitchy feeling.

MOT passed - no advisories - yeehaa. Actually ran out a month ago and I forgot to get it done, oops!

Yesterday i finally got my wheels fitted, about 6 months after buying them. Refurbed myself(never again) and shod in MPS4 all round.
My Eibach springs also arrived at 4 in the afternoon, so fitted them and the spacers i had waiting to go on too.
By the time i finished it was dark so i left it in the garage.
Today i got it out for a good clean and have just driven it into town. Seems much more compliant now without RFL, despite the increase in wheel size. Hardly follows the road camber now either.

So did I! Finished in 2000, which makes me feel old, remember it like yesterday.
