What did you do to your Z4M today?

Oh lol! Gutted! Does anyone make a decent airbox out of anything OTHER than carbon?

Not that I know of, on the other hand the stock plenum is perfectly good just don’t get the sound you do with carbon
If the cars a keeper, I’d do the man math and get one and not think about the cost too much. If it helps, Martin @ Msmotorsport takes PayPal so you can pay interest free over 4 months!

Another fairly busy maintenance day.

Changed the rear plate lights as they’d started to be a bit intermittent. Went for the popular 1 series replacements. Nice and easy job, new connectors on and push back in.

Chucked on the front scoop from Burkhart, got the idea from someone else on here so thanks! Expensive for what it is but I guess similar to the RPI version. Easy to fit though, ish.
Bit fiddly but not difficult and fits well. Has a foam strip that comes with it, guess it’s for the bottom to stop it rattling on the brace?

Got the compression tester out as not been done for a while and it’s done a fair few track days since and now on 114k miles. Pretty happy with the results and no issues. Done from cold and throttle pedal down, though not sure that does anything tbh being drive by wire?
Cyl 1 - 190psi
Cyl 2 - 190psi
Cyl 3 - 188psi
Cyl 4 - 190psi
Cyl 5 - 195psi
Cyl 6 - 190psi

Easy job and good to know all seems well. It did have a proper leak test a few years back now and that was fine at the time so no reason to think any issues. Time for a beer! 8)

How nice is it  those carbon trumpets

And today’s quick job was removing the (camber??) pins and fitting an oem e46 strut bar. All I’m missing are 4 of the black plastic caps.

Looks good

Can probably get similar plastic caps off Amazon or eBay?

Good luck finding the caps. The original flat ones have been long discontinued. The replacement part is now dome shaped

I also have an e46 strut bar but it doesn’t fit. I have all the caps and if you wanted I could look into 3d printing some for you.

I have a carbon plenum and it fouls on the edge of the box. I know, I’ve marked the carbon

Finally fitted the CSL dipstick which has allowed me to use this mounting point to hold these vac lines a bit more OEM which I'm happy with.

Modified the original bracket to suit and painted it, works a treat

Next annoying problem, the CSL dipstick bends the wrong way, going to have a look at that this weekend, got a couple of options to ponder.

Ok I chose this method Vs trying to bend it which I think is a bit rubbish.

The OEM dipstick uses a fork shaped bracket which is removable which allows you to rotate the dipstick, the CSL one's come with a welded bracket.

The issue is the bracket is 180 degrees out for the Z4M if you want easy access to the dipstick.

Bracket slowly removed and painted, will install with new oem fork part and the job is a good one
