What did you do to your Z4M today?

First pic above is “before”, last pic is “after”.

It doesn’t look great but I can’t see how it could get any closer. All of the clips are engaged, the screw is in and it looks the same as the other side. :scratchhead:

Hmm maybe it's right then, maybe it looks worse in the pic with the bright silver against the black plastic piece in the gap.

As long as it's hooked in I think your good?

Fitted the Hack Engineering vanos pipe

The old one was deffo frilly…

And took all the old cr4ppy rubberised finish off the steering wheel components

Drove it for a good run out and the roads were quiet…

Replaced front duct and arch liner (see 2nd pic for the wallet-saving M-ification process!).

Always nice to have a bit of a clean out of all the crud behind the bumper too.

Also replaced one of the rear bumper brackets which had cracked.10 minute job but amazing how sh!t the panel gap still looks afterwards.

My front duct has come loose, did you have to buy a new one because the clips had broken? Was removing and replacing the bumper afterwards a nightmare with getting the bonnet gaps correct?

Mine have always had no tabs - I suspect they shear at the slightest little bumper prang. I bought a new one because the old one had rubbed through when I was running 40-profile front tyres as an experiment! Not terrible - just a niggle worth doing when I had the bumper off anyway.

Bumper re-fitting is easy enough to get right. You just need to keep the torx bolts under the bonnet loose while you prop the centre of the bumper up with blocks of wood etc (or a willing helper) and clip the sides in. The worst bit, in my experience, is undoing those T30 torx bolts as they always seem to bind really badly and they're very close to the paintwork so you can't just go to town with impact guns, heat etc.

Went for day out in the M with Andy Walsh at North Wealds for a driver training day, 2nd time going and again can highly recommend as a safe place to really explore the limits and get comfortable with the car moving about (and spinning, it will) and controlling high speed oversteer.
The mini track he sets out at the end of the day is a a good way to put it into practice and you can have some fun arsing about as well. Only got one video outside the car but gives you an idea though this was fully just messing about at this point rather than trying to be quick.

Shame didn't get a video of Andy doing a 'pace' lap in it, certainly an eye opener of what it's capable of in the right hands with the right technique, fair to say I shat myself a few times.

For what you get (and learn), it's a cheap day out IMO and Andy's a top bloke and good instructor and very easy going. He mentioned he's had quite a few Z4's recently but whoever else is there, (only 3 in my case) you'll have a very enjoyable day with more than enough driving time, probably too much in our case today, my poor tyres

Fitted the Momo Mod 08 steering wheel.
Looks good  Does the dish depth roughly equal the depth of the original wheel when mounted to the boss?
I made a mistake with mine and the wheel is further away than ideal. Considering the 07 or 08 now, I think the 07 has a 70mm vs 90mm for the 08.

If our paths ever cross again at a trackday Tom you're welcome to try out my Mod.07  if it helps!

Thanks Ed! I fear the chances of that are vanishingly rare these days, though I did make good use of my months tax (first time in a year!) and sneaked in two great days. :)
I think I'll just bite the bullet with either, 2cm not much difference, 7/9 on the other hand definitely is. I like look the look of both :scratchhead:
a well used gt3rs and a z4m, class of '07. what's not to like!

Bet that was great. I did a similar thing at bruntingthorpe many years ago with another renowned 'guru' Don Palmer, incredibly instructive.
Sadly I think north wealds is closing, much like brunters already has :( https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=18&t=2114905

I loaned my car to a local YouTube enthusiast.

Check it out and let me know what you think? He's a Rover guy primarily but enjoyed it!

I’ve had to mute the guy 2 mins in. What a ….
Lovely looking imola non nav MR though.
Will unmute to listen to the engine when he (hopefully) shuts up and drives it.

He's alright really. I'll admit an acquired taste but I don't mind it.

It's Eddie's old one so sounds lovely. carbon air helps

Oh nice, Eddies, that’s why it’s so shiny then!
One day soon again for me, one of the great loves of my life, the S54.

It was, very enjoyable day!

Him and Don Palmer were the two guys highly recommended to me for this kind of thing back in the day when I first went. Would’ve liked to have done a Don day tbh.

True about the airfield, he’s got some plans in the works, he said there is another part of the airfield which may be suitable for him to move to but it’s all a bit up in the air at the moment obviously.
Hope it works out for him one way or another, had a bit of a crap time of it by all accounts from some things he was telling me.
