What did you do to your Z4M today?

That doesn't sound right Tom.

I'm using a regular ZHP and it hasn't been in the least bit wobbly in 20K miles.

Some install observations would be great 🙏. My bloody f10 knob keeps pulling off if not handled gentley, yes missus.
For sure, it was booked in with Areeve for tomorrow but I decided to take it to RBM instead for 1st August installation. Have few bits to sort.

The ZMC has now had its full refresh, all bushes and suspension components have been replaced. I also upgraded the brakes to a set of M2 blue calipers all round + new brake lines front and back with Cupro nickel

I didn’t manage to get many photos during the work, but the plan now is to let everything settle before getting the geometry dialled in one final time. I do still need to go back and sort the front drop links, as the adjustable ones I originally fitted turned out to be the wrong size bit thats a job for after summer.
The brakes look great! Are they plug and play or did you need to use a bracket to mount them?

That would be great. I can't recall if the exhaust needs to be dropped, if it can be done from the top I'd probably try doing it myself? I remember reading something needs to be put backwards in the e85/6 application?

I think it's something to do with the short shift kit I have, it looks like the knob should locate but even after having a burly scottish chap wack my knob hard popping off problems still exist.
I exaggerate a bit, it's fine normally but vigorous use has it's perils. I've learnt to live with it over 10 years and 2 x f10s, but recently I lent my car to a friend for a few laps of combe, I was a bit surprised when whilst following him my car suddenly slowed out of the exit of quarry. I thought the worst, then as I passed saw him holding the gear knob out the window:rofl:
He suggested an RTD might be a good idea, I'm not going to disagree.
Eta, actually he suggested coolerworx. Is there much difference/preference? Look similar to me. I have a friend in the US who could bring back the rtd

You probably wont care, but I believe the issue with the Coolerworx one is the return spring and lock-out mech is longer than the RTD version, which means you have to trim the centre console plastic trim to accommodate. With the RTD one (even the lockout shifter I have) if you install it with the return spring/lockout mech facing backward not forward, you dont need to trim anything at all.

Probably wont remember Tom, but you did give my RTD shifter a go in the pits at Donny last May (ooh-err matron). I don't have any direct driving comparison as I haven't driven a coolerworx-equipped car, but I have sat in a car with a coolerworx fitted and the only real difference I could feel was the rtd shifter return spring is stronger than the coolerworx, which given the marginally increased risk in mis-shifting when shortening the distance across the gate is something I considered desireable..!

I'm heading to Frimley 4-6 Aug - if you find yourself at all local you're welcome have a go see how you find mine driving it?

Ross did say he will drop the exhaust, I am sure it will make it easier this way. I have seen youtube videos where installation was done without removing it as well. I am at RBM Friday 1st August, so if you are close by feel free to drop by. Ed has covered backward/forward installation few times, based on my research it seems both are possible. It comes down to your preference it seems. I have asked RBM that I want to sit down to try various position before tightening up everything.

For info, I run Nitrons drop links on the front they are lovely:thumbsup:

P.S. black wheel bolts (OCD :geek:)

I dropped the exhaust both times I did mine (first fitted a non-lockout, then upgraded to a lock-out shifter. It definitely does make life a lot easier!!

I used this kit. There was no issue with the rears, with the fronts and the fake CSL 19” wheels, I needed a spacer and an extra shim in the kit. I’m going catchup with the guy who sells the kit, and he can check it over and finalist the kit for the Z.

Interesting. So, for the rears is it just the 4 x bushings/inserts that are required to fit the F8x caliper to the standard Z4M 328mm disc?

Your ssk may be so low you’re not getting enough leverage from the shorter knob. I can confirm my F10 knob has never come off on my stock shifter.

Fitted a set of BCS Powervalve Backboxes to the MC last night and gave it a little test drive today. Properly pleased with them after having tried Stromung and RPi exhausts last year. They are the perfect OEM+ upgrade imo

I’ll put a comparison video up of all three exhaust sounds on my youtube channel soon.

Are you going to sticker it up or leave it without one?
Debating whether to bother, I'm not really interested in aesthetics, certainly not under the bonnet! Might have a think and get something comedic, might bung an M Power Sticker on it - haven't decided yet!
