Wales Meet 12/04/15 - South East Hooners Thread (04/04)

Most of us travelling together are staying at a place over the river, but there will be people staying around Bristol I'm sure. Maybe post on the main thread for the meet ?

I'm not sure where Billy and th3odor3 are staying though, maybe they can provide some direction...

Thanks...I'll post and see if a drunken evening out in Bristol is on the cards, if not then a country pub will do nicely!

To be honest, some help planning a route from the M40 down towards Bristol through the Cotswalds would be useful, as I can choose roads (and Perry has already), but I don't know if they will be a crap choice, especially on a Saturday afternoon... And if you want to pitch up too that would be ace :D

Its not a road I've travelled myself much but if you want to visit the Cotswolds on route, I'd probably exit the M40 onto the A40 at Wheatley , head West, then pop up onto the A44 through Chipping Norton, to Morton-in-the Marsh (real Cotswold territory), drop down the A429 through Stow-on-the Wold and Bourton on the Water (Picture postcard villages). Rejoin the A40 at Northleach and head over the top of Gloucester and cross the top of the Severn, before picking up the A48, down to your Hotel just past Lydney

Unless anyone else knows better ?

I travel that area a lot as I come from that part of the world and I have business in that area. This route suggested is a good idea plenty of pubs on the way for lunch. For those staying Wales on Saturday night, I would suggest travelling down the A48 from Gloucester it runs parallel to the river severn.

Brilliant guys, think we've got a plan... And all I had to do was ask nicely :D

Beaconsfield has loads of space, we'll park up the back / top of the car park as far away from the actual services buildings as possible. Should be plenty room at that time of day.

I'm the only one at the hotel without a girl, might have to find me some of this Ale you speak of :P

Just need a lunch stop, and a place to pause on the A40 before we split. I can probably just about manage that :D

Thats why we have sheep Bing. You dont even need to buy them a drink either, so don't forget your Wellies !
The technique is to get a back leg down each boot and they cant get away ( ...so I'm told :D )

And don't forget the mint sauce flavour K-Y

If you get them to the edge of a cliff they push back harder :D

But I don't do sheep :|

I'll rather meet you at Cobham! Works just as well for me and then there is no need to stop at Clackett Lane Services just for me

Ok Billy, first post updated

I have a draft route through the Cotswalds, with Perry for marking :P

Looks like lunch will be somewhere around Chipping Norton or a bit further south. Any suggestions welcome, preferably not in the middle of a town, or Michelin 2 starred

What do people think about this place for lunch?

Looks alright, reasonably priced

If everyone else agrees then I'll work out when we should get there and look at booking some space. I've put numbers next to names in the first post based on what I know, seems to be 15 people right now but let me know if I've gotten it wrong.

Just for info, it is a mud palace all around here at the moment, must have had quite a bit of rain lately.
