Diane (Mrs FB) read out a brilliant idea on faceache this morning. Shops should chain up their shopping trolleys and allow shoppers to use one hand basket only.
What a bloody great idea

Unless you’re like me and got wobbly legs and need the trolley for Support. :(

In which case you could probably request a trolley to put your hand basket in.

Or sit in the Trolley and get assistant to wheel you around the store. (not sure that helps much with social isolation though)

We do our usual Tesco online delivery but it’s a minimum 10 day wait - and it seems only limited supplies available.
Shortages are the result of the hoarders / selfish bastards.

Any other Asthma sufferers on the group.

My wife came down with the cough and fever symptoms this Weds, both myself and daughter have Asthma.

The Mrs is keeping herself upstairs until next Weds which will be 7 days.

So far I have no symptoms but my daughter has developed a cough, so I guess its a matter of days for me.. BRING IT ON!

Local shop to me is doing ok. Everyone being sensible and polite.
Had to laugh at the sign on the door which asks everyone to show respect and keep their distance. The aisles are only 3 feet wide! :D

Anyway, today I popped in for some essentials................. more red wine and a packet of cashews.
Shelves looking a bit bare.

They tell me the warehouses are full but there are not enough pickers to fulfil the orders and load the lorries.

So, just a thought, could some of the unfortunate people who are being sent home on little or no pay perhaps be employed picking orders in warehouses, or restocking shelves in supermarkets overnight?

Attleborough Sainsbury is struggling as the council STILL haven't relaxed the delivery rules. No lorries between 7pm and 7am. So on Thursday, all the older folk, as instructed, turned up for the first hour shopping and found nothing to buy! So much for isolating them.

I wonder if maybe closing every supermarket for two days would give time to restock. It seems it is now more a case of not being able to replenish after the initial moronic surge. The optimist in me hopes that, if the shelves could be seen to be full again, the selfish tossers may slow down a little.
The realist is laughing at itself!!

On the fence with this one... I'm seeing so many people going the the shop every day... not exactly social distancing. I can quite happily do our shop as normal (not buying anything extra than we usually do) and then not need to go for well over a week. Surely that is better in order to keep infection rates down? Shopping every day just increases the risk.

Our elderly neighbours went out to a large Tesco in our nearest town, at the supposed time for the elderly and infirm only.
They witnessed two women who were clearly not in the age bracket, with a full shopping trolley each. These were emptied into a van by a bloke waiting for them and the two bitches then returned inside the store...to fill them again I dare say.
These fookers need horse whipping in public

Sainsbury’s here have a 3 week plus lead time making any online order a bit pointless if you want the basics now.

I read most cases included some type of stomach or bowl disorder plus a fever. CDC recommends 14 day isolation if she has the symptoms.

At the risk of sound selfish being in the at risk category, I think online deliveries should be restrained to those who need facility.
I would also say one order / household

I did the weekly shop this morning at Tesco. There were two queues. The one to the right was for the Auld Yins and to the left for anyone who did not have grey hair, or who had dyed it. I joined the queue on the right which started to move first as it was Pensioner Hour. The queue was allowed to enter in groups of about 50 people, then stopped. We waited some more time and other people came out the shop. Another batch of about 50 was allowed in, then the queue stopped again. This reminded me of the traffic light system on long roads, were a batch of cars go through at a time, then you stop at the next set of lights. This system prevents long tailbacks. When it was my turn to enter I was amazed at how quiet and civilised it was. There was plenty of distance between shoppers and no crowded aisles. I did my usual weekly shop and was out in less than 20 minutes. The shelves were constantly being stocked and the 'stockers' never got in the way and pulled back to give space to shoppers. When I came out the Pensioners queue had finished and the same procedure was in place for the other shoppers. All credit to Tesco, Roneo Corner, Romford for organising a large crowd of people in a civilised way. I would never describe shopping as a pleasant experience but this was much better than I thought it would be. :)

I still say this shopping situation has been caused by panic / hoarders. We can’t eat any more that normal can we? So it’s going into cupboard and onto shelves. Once those are filled then hopefully it will go back to normal?

I truly hope Karma f**ks them so hard they’ll regret for life ever setting foot in a supermarket Fred. To think folk fought and died for these vile gutter scum..... :x :x

I hope they choke on their excess purchases or it gives them such a dose of the trots that they’ll need every sheet of the stored up bog roll!

Re the two bitches filling the van, they were probably going to sell it on at black market prices. I was told off a fella in the North East selling a bottle of milk and a loaf of bread for £10

I’ve just notice that it’s just over a week since I made my original post a how things have changed in such a short period - I thought the UK might have kept a lid on the situation to some degree - apparently not.

I thunk this is our generations World War like our parents or grandparents suffered. Except our enemy doesn’t have a uniform.

Found it bizarre yesterday, my local Asda was heaving, everything being stripped bare with traffic queues onto the car park. Gave that a miss and went to the nearby Marks and Spencer, all shelves stocked, plenty of everything and wasn't even that busy, only thing I couldn't get was toilet rolls and hand wash but had plenty of soap bars, I don't get it why such a contrast. Wasn't complaining and had a nice stress free stroll round :)

Luckily I had some foresight a week ago and ordered some toilet rolls off e-bay, the type that are supplied to hotels, glad I did now, my arse is thanking me :) only problem is thy're not your standard size but tractor wheel size

Tim.

At last a store manager with some common bloody sense. Can you get him to pass the message onto all these other mis-managed stores!! Made me sick to the stomach when I seen the video of that nurse who just finished her shift and had to go buy some groceries but nothing left on the shelves. I hope those two bitches mentioned above get a bed on her ward.

Ive just seen the journalists having a go at Trump for calling this the Chinese Flu - I don't always think he right, but this time he is spot on.
We called it the Spanish Flu. why not the Chinese Flu - Thats where it started and apparently - It's a Zoonotic virus ( Crossing from animals to humans)

I think all key workers should get an ID card allowing them to queue jump to the front at any time they arrive, and an aisle set aside just for them, it wouldn’t be hard to rotate fresh veg etc, and to make sure they get whatever they need at any time night and day.

I’d also make it compulsory for them to walk past the vile hoarders like the two slags mentioned and flick them two fingers....
