Vanne's lightweight/ interior modification thread

Yup they sure do, will be even nicer when its back from the paintshop, clear coat on in matt, and suede surrounds around the door handle and door pulls.

finally getting a move on with the lights..

your probably wondering what happened to the back of the light? well, because the car is so low, the front wheel hits the back of the light when it sits this low. Yes , it even doesnt fit without turning the wheel. Those of you with keen eyes can probably pick out the C6 bulbs.
Again, yes, this is just for making mounts and fitting purposes, i still have to close up the back side of the lights.

Door cards are back from the paint shop.. suede needs to go on next and then to install the door pulls.

Vanne - question for you... Having just returned from a work trip to dubai and Saudi last week, how the merry hell do you not kill your car driving it out there? 50C I saw in Saudi, it was fucking unreal! I don't know how any car survives that heat driven on the road, let alone on track, let alone with a supercharger!!!

Track toy season is between October and May-ish.. man, should have dropped me a line. Beers always in my fridge. 34 degrees is my limit (previously, i havent shaken the SC down yet aside from some rat bag back street burnouts and pulls) . any hotter than that and its not worth while going out. Heat soak is a killer.

That's kind of you mate, to be fair this trip was absolutely flat out - I don't think I had more than 5minutes to myself all week! Next time hopefully I'll have a bit more time to spare around meetings etc, will definitely drop you a line :)

Yeah that makes more sense on the time of the year you guys hit the track - it's still slightly bonkers that 34C is hotter than the hottest day of the year for the UK, and would be a hell of a strain on the cars over here as it is, but that's a 'cool' day for you guys

I just couldn't get over the fact that going outside literally felt like walking into an oven, and getting back into a car that had been sitting in the midday sun for an hour was just unreal!!

I had to spend an hour walking around one of our fabricator shops in Saudi - non-AC warehouse with big open doors and a shedload of welding and laser cutting machines going all the time - I dunno how they manage it!

I think you get used to it, well not completely, but i think the human body is an amazing bit o kit. For me i have to say, its not so much the heat, its the humidity combo with heat. i can do dry heat all day long, no worries, chuck some humidity into that, and it feels like someone slaps you in the face with a wet tuna as you open the door to walk outside.. crazy..

went and did a spot of work on the car yesterday, fire system now all plumbed in, bit of work on the switches, and today i gotta mount the door pulls.. and finalize the door cards. pretty easy..

Well got the call yesterday evening that the elec engineer had finished with the car.. while it was there at EDS, I also had a few splitter re-enforcment plates made up. Pics will come laters, but yeah I wanted something where the splitter was strong enough to be able to jump on it.. (my mate last year lost his front nose cone after it dislodged and he ran straight over it during a track session)

So that's not a possibility now,it's solidly mounted to the frame..

A few more bits and pieces to go, hand brake alcantara cover, rear view mirror, pax seat, outside mirrors, but it's ballpark ready to go.
