Vanne's lightweight/ interior modification thread

well this is rather embarrassing.. looks like its been nearly a year since we figured out the canbus for the racedash... guess life got in the way for a bit there with kids and what nots.. I have done /some/ work, however most have been the fixups that needed doing from others fucking s**t up. which takes twice as long.. the new dashboard however is now complete.. well complete enough, so thats about to go into the car.

car is still waiting for its new rubber and lights, ill do that when were ready to hit the track.

aside from that, fine tuning the steering rack limiters and adjusting the suspension.

pics of stuff soon to follow.

Set of new rubber.. Yeah I guess we'll be out there in the next few weeks..

Never used em before, they are as of last month the GO-TO track tire in Oz. cant beat them cost/performance ratio.

holy crap, doing a bit today.. lolol, lets not get too carried away here.. lol

Steering rack limiters.. 43mm long, 40mm diameter.. yeah it's a guess.. I've got enough derilin left to make a bunch more with 27mm bit for holing it out..

My last makeshift set were 39.. They rubbed.. I'll give this a go and if it's too much (If I were a betting man, and I am) I'll chop (uncle chop chop) 1mm off at the time untill it's perfect..

Yep it's all trail and error..

Read that as don't be an idiot and build your own car, s**t takes ages.. Jokes..

Gotcha  You could use those limiters as new wide skateboard wheels :D

Side skirts back from the paintshop, i gotta say they did a great job. Front nose and splitter too.. Happy days..

you bet. Inbound. i did some other bits and pieces too..

Well day one of my holidays and just did a job I've been dreading to do. Change the polly window that the paint shop fucked up with thinners, trying to clean up overspray.. Fucking idiots..

New beaut polly window in place.. From plastics for performance, I also upgraded to the Clubman sliding window. I was crying when I saw what the paintshop had done.. Bastards.. And the procedure for removing and installing the way I've designed it is a ****. Easy way would have needed uprights to hold the windows in place, this is secured at the button with a heap of flex keeping the Window to the car frame at speed.

Pic doesn't show the newly painted bottom rails, which previously had sand in it and the transition not even fixed up.. I'll see if I can find a pic if it.

found one.. check this out.. wtf

(here you can (both pics above) see the utter rubbish job the old paint shop did on the side skirts)

Last week I properly mounted the side little wings. (pic below) Again the nitwits in the paint shop were to blame here.. I won't go into it because you'll scratch your head on how stupid some people are, but halas, all sorted now.

Nfi why the pic is upside down miss Jane.

I had the tailgate window from them and it is an excellent fit . Is the body shop paying for it to be redone ?

Yep and no, they ain't paying. Kinda expected when I refused to pay half the bill after they had completed the job. It's fine now, Ive sorted most of it, but I'll never use them again for anything. The funny part is, when they worked on my y61 patrol, they did an amazing job.
