Vanne's lightweight/ interior modification thread

So you may be wondering why its been so quiet in here on the build and development front...

Well... pretty simple really.... :telloff:

Pretty much the Dubai Government came in and pad locked the compound where my car is being finished due to a dispute over land agreement between 2 locals... Thats 12 shops that were in the compound.. bang.. padlocked... no warning, no nothing.. just padlocked. People were escorted out, and just padlocked the whole joint. everything left inside... :!:

Yeah... my car included on the lift.... :x

That was 3 months ago... Its been one hellova battle since then to get my car back, and i have to say, pretty much without result, completely without result..

The guy who owns the shop (not the building, but the shop, powerless to do anything at all), absolutely devastated...

This really went on for 3 months.. anytime enquiry was made was just told to be patient.. that is all....

You can imagine how this went.... :headbang:

And the just a few days ago, out of the blue.... shop returned to the operator and we have access again... holy s**t!!!!

Yeah, its been a tough couple of months, thats fer sure...

however... I just wanna get my car finshed now, missed pretty much the complete winter, and end march its going to get hot again, gotta have shaken down the car before then...

spent the last few days pretty much living at the shop...

lol yeah its a mock up for height/spacing. Will be made from 12mm thick alu. hopefully in the next few weeks.

Bit of a weird occurance.. turns out that the vt2-525 kit is actually a vt2-550 kit. pulley size confirm it. SC pulley is 79mm.

So came back from Tunis, dropped the kids at school and headed to the shop to sort the rear suspension/basic alignment.

Put the rear hubs 15 mm further outwards. (The kit allows for this) and just eye balling it looks pretty good. Might need to adjust toe though, haven't looked at that too closely yet as I couldent get the string down one side of the car as the next car was too close.

If the toe is out, I'll need these...
Ordered.

I've followed this all the way through with avid interest. Amazed at how much you have changed.
Out of interest, I reckon if you put all the invoices for new parts back inside the car it would almost bring the weight back up to standard. :poke:
Don't worry, that's just jealousy talking. :D

haha lol thanks  , i hear ya. its been a journey so far alright. Gotta say ive enjoyed nearly every bit, minus the part where i thought i wasnt ever going to see my car again, that wasnt good. :headbang: but yeah, really enjoyed the build. watching it come together now is just great. Would i do it again? in a heart beat.

Going out on a limb here but if a forum member has a question about how a part gets removed or replaced you would have the answer! :D Great job on your efforts to follow your passion ie racing. I for one would not have the "balls" to do this.

Vanne as per your pm...

Here's the s/c race brace. Definitely needed for hard use.

Hope this helps.

And then....

Bloody hell someone call the fire department ;) lololol..
Man soo happy that the tune took. Huge weight of my mind.. Epic locked the tune, so we had to get creative.. took about 9 goes to unlock it.. and it's one of those things, no doubt you guys know, a couple of hex off and you brick the ECU. Nasty..

But really happy with the result.. The smoke is from the wrapped headers, they are curing from 2 or 3 heat cycles.

Will get proper oil before we shake down.
Actually, will need proper fluids everywhere. The rear diff needs to be run for 30 mins before swapping oil, the brakes need to be completely flushed.. that's still an unknown too...
