Update . . . Red 3.0 Z4 - what do you reckon, I like it

Hi,

spotted this Red Z4 at local garage:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/sort/default/usedcars/radius/5/postcode/pr28ne/model/z4/page/1/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/channel/cars/make/bmw?logcode=p

I'm tempted to see if they will take mine as part ex.

The log book says it a Z4 3.0SI

I've always been confused about the 3.0 engine variants
Can any one tell me which it is? 3.0i / 3.0i SE / 3.0si SE as the advert just says 3.0

Is this the 261 BHP engine?
( The advert says 231 BHP )

Thanks

That's most definitely a SE with a basic spec & not worth the ££ imo , little extras,17inch alloys, non M seats & asking Sport spec money  keep looking

Cheers,
Its the low mileage that is appealing, it has 3 stamps in service book from main agent dealer: the first is at 18k then 24k and then 35k
So you reckon I can do better then, cos they are quite rare and I like the colour?

Hi

This will be the N52 engine .. the M54 (231bhp) was used up to 2005 pre facelift etc

check the head tappet issues .. there are other examples for sale better then this currently on autotrader

regards

I can't find any 08 plate (Trade) 3.0 Z4 with under 40k miles for less on Autotrader?

would you consider a auto ?

No - has to be manual for me :driving:

That seems a really basic spec car, even for an SE.

I'm clearly biased on the colour having owned the equivalent coupe but I would say that's overpriced even given the miles

would be interesting to know what the websites were offering if you were trying to sell it

Way over prices and under specced but if you have fallen for the milage and colour etc then haggle hard and then add the //M seats and other extras it needs with the savings.

Well Im negotiating swapping my 19" M sport wheels on to it, then like u say I can replace the seats if I need to later. It the mileage and the engine and the colour that I love.
Im now waiting to see if the wheels swap is on!

Why is this a negotiation? They are your wheels to do as you like surely?

No longer for sale by the looks of it, or the deal was done.

Yep - the deal was done :)
Thought I'd give the ending to this old thread . . .
I managed to negotiate a slightly lower screen price and also swapped out the 17" runflats for the MSport wheels on the Zed I traded in.
Still miss the heated MSports seats though - but hey, life's a compromise right!
(oh, and it was the facelift version with the N52 265hp engine)

I cannot download the advert now. I would bd interested to know the adking price. I am thinking of a basic spec one too. I agree. If they are low mileage too and well cared for they are getting increasingly difficult to find.
I am interested in the comment of changing the se seats to sports seats. Isnt that one load of difficulty trying to match the leather? And how much do a good pair cost? I also read with interest the story about the ebay hardtop, whats the real value of one of those. ?

Regarding MSports seats - they are demanding high prices, saw a pair of electric heated ones up for £950, they regularly fetch £700.
Plus you then have the faff of fitting them. I'm resigned to making do with my standard seats - they are leather and electric though

I'm always drawn to red cars and it's a rare colour on the Zed, also paying a few quid extra for a really good example pays off in the long run compared to repair costs ... and gadgets? well I'm with Flimper, they are usually the first things to go wrong and nothing is more naff or annoying than an old sat-nav so it sounds like a solid buy to me

pics? :)
