The extended leather on the roadster looks great, it’s a shame that in the coupe they did not wrap the A pillars in leather. I wonder if anyone has done that 🤔
I've owned 2 E86's and an E89 with the extended leather option but never an E85. For me it wasn't the extended element I enjoyed but more the fact that it came with Nappa leather rather than standard Oregon or Kansas option. I think all the ///M's came with Nappa anyway.

Agree totally with Gwest, Kansas ‘Leather’ is pretty bad, hard and cheap, nappa used in M’s is on another level.

Well done BMW….

Passenger mirror was vibrating like mad, so took it apart. Someone has been doing some weird stuff with plastic welding there so I could not turn the ring anymore. Tightened the base as well as a new dose of 3M sorted that.

Second part was the missing jack point, replaced now.

Third part - got the reverse camera ready to go in now. Need more sunlight to finish that.

Dawn to dusk to put some pretty little sticky things on a teeny weeny mirror, and pop in a plastic pad…you’ve done very well Paul, very well indeed…

The process on the seats was as follows:

- Woolite 1:7 mix to clean the seats (three times)
- Bicarbonated soda on all the seams and base overnight for odour removal
- White vinegar and water mix 50/50 over the seats
- Gliptone leather cleaner, applied with horse hair brush
- Autoglym leather cleaner, applied with horse hair brush
- Sand w&d 800 on the bolster and remove previous colour attempt on the base

Using microfibre sponge (Furniture Clinic - leather repair paint) to apply paint to the affected areas. About 5 layers in the end, hairdryer to dry in between. Furniture Clinic sealant (Mat finish)

Seats and steering wheel to go back in on sunday so the battery can be connected and the CarPlay can be tested. Reverse camera connection to follow (and wheel replacements)

Looks really good,as does the rest of the Car,Paul.
As Sars said, nice to see some tlc being lavished on a z

Thanks Craig, it is good fun to work on it.

And John - in between, a 2 hours drive around the Sussex lanes. And how is your formerly-known-as-an-M getting along? :poke:

The coupe A pillars extend up to the headliner - so you'd need a satisfactory transition from one material to the next. A lot easier in the soft top.

Alcantara probably works better as a material that can bridge the transition.

Today the fitting of the reverse camera. Straight forward once I knew about another power source requirement :D

Great project, and nice to see a Z4M back on that lovely list of yours ! Reverse camera looks decent, that'd be ideal on a coupe rather than point and guess
