Triumph TR6

I had a TR4A for over 20 years from 1992 to 2012. At times it was my only car, and I would do 17,000 miles or more a year. No garage or drive at times. Changed the chassis twice (once due to tin worm, once due to a hard landing....). Lots of silly things done to the engine (big valves, Weber's, hairy cam, lightened and balanced crank and flywheel) and suspension, brakes and drive train all suitably beefed up. The car was a huge amount of fun to drive, stuck to the road like s*** to a blanket and made a glorious noise (straight through exhaust system!). Should never have got rid of it!

Cheers
John

Think us oldies had the best time in wot some of us would say the bestest cars,we had the sound, performance which we could do ourselves and the cars even back then had character,I’d also say we had ore fun in our mopeds than we did on our bigger bikes ,if only I kept that car,How many of us can say that

Here’s mine, I’ve had it for 10 years now and I don’t think I’ll ever sell her.

Beautiful cars, my old man used to rally Triumph Heralds, at one point we had 3 sat on our drive in. Would love a TR5/6 but prices are rocketing! That being said I think the GT6 is almost as pretty, has the straight six soundtrack and still affordable (just)...

I got this, not bad for second choice really, still got it

A couple of older mates had 240z`s back in the 80`s and I used to tag along to the Z club meets . They are great cars but from what I remember are prone to rust . One of the club meets was at Greenham Common airbase which was a great experience going up and down one of the runways .

No TR6's but several TR7s and a TR8 as 'company cars' when I worked for BL in the early 80s..

The TRs were rust bucket as well,in fact most if not all the 70 s cars were,I was probably at that meet,Arrgh the good old TR7-8 never really took off amongst the purists ,my mate had one that same colour, think it was a bit too futuristic in looks at the time for some people ,That 260 I still have, had it a long time, seriously modded under the bonnet ,I had another before that which yes just like other 70 s cars it rotted in certain places

One day I’d love to get a beer and talk about your experiences with BL

Have loved reading up about the history and last days

It was a very interesting time..I worked in the computer division..

Lots of stories..the time Red Robo versus Michael Edwards and his threat to close BL..it wasn't a threat we were archiving all the data and a few hours from irreversibly switching everything off!! :tumbleweed:

Beers always welcome..where are you based?
