Touring range on full tank M car ?

Getting excited now ,
Route & hotel stopovers are sorted for a 6 day Scotland roadtrip in the M with mrs w ,
Approx 1000 all together with motorway for the first 100 & last 100 miles .
Only had the car 2 weeks / 150 miles so no real idea of what i can expect on full tank with a mix of steady cruising with spirited spells where allowed :oops: :driving:
When i collected the car i zero'd the trip & mamaged 34mpg average home over 96 miles / 60miles on motorway 50/75mph , the rest blatted over the back roads , towns & moors
 
excellent figures mr wilks ! maybe your not trying hard enough..... you should be able to get that comfortably down to about 24/26 when you are a bit more used to it :driving: :thumbsup: :rofl: :tumbleweed:

That was'nt quite right , it was 34 when i left the motorway , 31 when i got home which was still pretty impressive .
Not really fussed on the mpg more interested in miles per tank RE my opportunity to fill up as not sure what to expect in the rural wilds of Scotland

Oh & its at 23 now on read out :wink:

That's where mine is stuck, no matter how often I reset the computer :lol:

PVR is about right in my experience. You probably won't get much further without properly nannying it, and if you do that we will come and confiscate it for the crime of gross mis-use of a Z :poke:

Do a search for shell & bp garages before you leave as they can be few & far between... You don't want to be filling up on Murco low grade...
 
I can count on about 275 or more where most of the driving is at highway speeds.

About right ???? My backside has been sliding through more miles in my car than your Scottish ar*e :lol:

I had to get back to that BP in Fort Williams and the Shell in Ullapool for top ups.
 
Those numbers were my guestimate Gary so i won't be leaving it till the yellow dot appears
Well used to touring France so you get a feel for filling up sometimes with half a tank as its not like fuel station's pop up every 15 miles
 
I got 33mpg today on a run up to St Andrews. It was pitifully slow as the Mrs was following and doesn't like to drive fast.

275 miles to a tank is about right. 220 miles is when the 'feed me' light will come on.
 
Around 250 miles to the tank if there's a reasonable amount of A roads and motorways. If you'll be using back roads and having a bit more fun then budget for 200 to be on the safe side.
 
If you share your planned route I can offer some advice on the great and perhaps the not so good roads :driving:
 
Traffic has a lot to do with it.

If you look at my fuelly page in my sit, you will see how up & down the figures are for exactly the same trip.

Min is about 25mpg, max is about 32mpg.

Heavy, but moving traffic at 50-70mph is perfect for decent economy, but as we all know it's more likely to be 0-80mph traffic.

The first half of my trip down to London on Mondays will have the car estimating a 360-ish range. 260 on the range and 100 already covered.

By the time I get into London I'm lucky to see a 300 mile estimate. 210 covered and 90 on the range.
 
I wouldn't plan for much more than 200-250 miles on a tank, to be on the safe side. Would be good to know your planned route. We are hoping to head up that way in August, if the weather is good. :thumbsup:
 
I don't think it's the size of the tank that's the problem... At least not in my case :lol:
 
Yes it's the biggest annoyance using the car as a daily to be honest or any long journey!

A few weeks ago, I had to go London To Lymington to Grimsby and I filled up twice on the journey. Once at the start then again towards the end.

An 80l tank would have been much better!
