To have or not to have

The cars got to be worth 19kish from BMW with a full waranty. I would have bought it by now. Except I don't like the piano Black, prefere me fake carbon trim, but thats just personal preferance.

Bought mine back in January for 22k, 08 plate with 16k on the clock. Plus I've done more miles than I was intending to do, you will, so just had the level 1 service done at BMW dealer for £981.00 ouch. My plan to tuck it away for the winter is't working either. Ho hum I'm a little poorer in the pocket but so much richer in the heart for taking her out every opportunity I get. :driving:

Just go buy it.

PS I'm 6ft 4 and I fit perfectly.

thanks for reply,i get butterflys just thinking off it :D i think im gonna go for it,wish i knew how to post a pic so i could show you
is it an easy job to change the piano part of the dash to another ?

CAMELOT KNIGHTS, that car is being advertised at £19,850 now. It looks a nice spec, the only problem sometimes with a low mileage car is that you don't like driving it too much because you don't want to put too many miles on it, whereas something with say 30k on it you are less likely to be bothered.

they are very nice cars fast and well built but for £20K you can get a porsche cayman O6 plate with 25K on the clock . much more desirable will hold its money better has more class thats what im looking out for and i have had BMW's for the last fifteen years . . but that only my opinion .

The 06 Cayman is slower and not nearly as much fun to drive and you'll see yourself coming and going. I personally prefer driving one of the world's rarest and best kept secrets!

But it handles better and you won't spend half your time bouncing down bumpy B roads because even without PASM its got a far better ride. Can't speak for the USA but here in the UK the only place where a Cayman S is going to be less fun to drive than a Z4M is on the 0.001% of roads that are perfectly surfaced, under trafficked and free from speed cameras. All other times the Cayman S would, in my opinion, be a much better real world option.

the porsche cayman S hits 0.60 In 4.5 seconds and goes to 170 mph so its faster . . and will definitely hold its money better . how do you mean you will see yourself coming and going ? the porsche is a better car not saying the Z4M is not but for a better drive faster better handing better all round car and a better return when you come to sell the porsche wins .

Arent you talking about the new Caymen S? Which you'll have to pay good £££ for.
If I remember correctly even a Z4 3.0Si is nearly as fast as the previous Caymen S and more economical too. THe previous Caymen S had around 295bhp. The new one has a bit more power but is faster with the special clutch/gearbox (if those options are added)

Pre- 2009 Cayman S 290 bhp 0-60 5.2 sec top speed 171 mph (tiptronic 5.9 sec 166 mph)
Post 2009 Cayman S 315 bhp 0-60 5.0 sec top speed 172 mph (PDK 4.9 sec 171 mph)
............Cayman R 325 bhp 0-60 4.8 sec top speed 175 mph (PDK 4.7 sec 174 mph)

...........BMW Z4MC 343 bhp 0-60 4.8 sec top speed 155 mph (restricted - suggested c. 175 - 180 mph when derestricted)

You need a Cayman R to achieve ///MC performance, and they are seriously expensive.

I've not competed with a Cayman on the track, but I've taken on a few Boxster Ss over the last couple of years and not found them not to be much of a challenge. Perhaps the stiffer Cayman would put up more of a fight?

Actually, I seriously considered a Cayman when I bought my ///MC. They're great cars if you like driving but lack confidence in your driving skills (or if your ambition is greater than your ability :P ). If you don't care about that, the other off-putting part about the Cayman is the mundane interior where everything is a pricey option. Oh, and my experience of Cayman owners in London is such that I would never wish to be confused with one!!

Buy an ///MC and spend the money you save on having the limiter removed and you'll have a faster, more involving car which is far more exclusive.

I have to agree on this one :D I traded a Caymen S last year to a local dealer and have to say that it was a fantasic drive with great balance and build quality...But it really lacked any charm or character! Its almost to good for its own good if that makes sense  And its a poor mans 911!! Having owned last of the 996 3.6 C2 and first of the 997 3.6 C2 i have to say the Z4M gives you more pound for pound in lots of ways! When i owned mine i hated the look that you get from other drivers etc...And you never know how long the RMS (rear main seal) will last! and its not cheap and it also effects all models :o Not nice having a supercar leaking oil!

The 997 was the one....but you need the 3.8 C2 with sports pack chrono pack! Not much change from 30 big ones for a propper sorted car!

Nice, both of them. But be honest, if you take money out of the equation, surely the 997 is a much better car? By which I mean you can get more out of it more of the time in everyday situations.

Either that, or I'm not selling my Z4MC as that is precisely my intended upgrade route.

Yes i loved the much more upto date 997 and owned it for 6 months, I did not buy it for an everyday car as i keep 7/8 nice bits in stock so can use something else :D But like i said pound for pound the M is a great car that has alot to offer :D I dont like the whole ownership thing with the 911 and glad to be back in an M car! :D It really reminds me of my well sorted Z3MC and alot more upto date!

This post is about whether the OP could justify spending 20K On a BMW Z4M . . personally i could not justify spending 20K on the BMW its an outdated car with cramped cabin space with extremely high fuel consumption and depreciation is very high. The better alternative would be the PORSCHE CAYMAN S they are more desirable thus holding their price a lot better than the Z4M the engine is more advanced with 20K service intervals all round a better car and more importantly in this post the 20K Can be justifie

i kinda agree but if i were to have one it would have to be an911
but the price on this z4mc £19.850 i can't make my mind up its a lot of money to me .tho i do love the car all original and hardly see one, theirs a 2009 z4 tintop by me going for £16.400 nice looking car and when you see things like that makes you think, but at the end of the day if its in your heart then price wont make a differance,at the moment im abot 85% gonna get it if i can

Guys (presumably) I hate to be a pedant, but a little proof reading wouldn't go amiss. I can't make sense of either of your posts.

So who's car is worth £16,400 and who's is worth £19,850? Has anybody actually bought a car yet? Do either of them have sat nav? And can £20k be justified or not? Questions, questions.
