Thinking of buying another set of CSL's

As above really, I've just phoned Simpsons and got a price for a new set, 1-2 day lead time which is great, however a friend of mine said they won't be the same as the ones I already have as BMW changed the Alloy?

Does anyone know if this is correct and if so what were they made from in 2006 ( when my set were made ) and what are they made from now, are there any benefits/disadvantages to the 2013 CSL's?

Also is there anyone else I should try to get them from?

Simpsons quoted just under £1600 + vat

Cheers

Daz,

I did a quick bit of google research and the consensus was, that it was a myth. There was some minor detail change (I think from memory, it was to the rim where the hole for the valve was, but I'll see if I can find the link again). I think the magnesium alloy though is still the same.

Some of the confusion might be to do with the M3 CS wheels - apparently the rear wheels had the same part number as the M3 CSL rears but the front had a different part number and was narrower (8" versus 8.5" I think).

No doubt one of the CSL gurus will confirm or correct this though shortly!

Can i ask the obvious Darren ? Why ?

Course you can Andy, I refurbed mine and sprayed them metallic silver, I was advised that the OEM silver was a bugger to spray and keep the colour even, anyway I did a good job but now I've got the money for a new set, simple as that really :)

So you are replacing rather than having 2 sets then ?
BTW , they do look great on your roady

Thanks Andy

Yes I'd be replacing, I'd sell mine and buy some PS2's to put on :driving:

BTW just got my set from BMW for £ 1722 all in which looks cheaper then Simpson .
Might be worth a phone call.

Does this mean your first set of CSLs will shortly be up for grabs then Darren? Am sure there will be a long list of potential buyers.

I was going to ask about that too, then I remembered I have no money left after moving house :headbang: :headbang:

Who needs a house when you could have some super shiny CSLs? Sell one of your rooms. Nobody really needs a bathroom when the kitchen has a sink in it

:!: Room available.... to let. Good home in Edinburgh, £400 a month. Bargain

Daz, ok to pay in a few months yeah
