Thinking of buying a 2007 Z4SI

4x4

Hopefully you guys can help to make up my mind. Was looking at z4 roadsters initially, but in the end a nicely priced 2017 z4 coupe popped up for sale. After some reading I know that the car is pretty reliable and holds the value well (better than roadsters). I have never driven one, and even sat in it, I just like it baised on the photos. I am pretty tall at 6.2ft, but should fit fine?

The car which popped up has 114kkm on the clock and has been used as a sunday driver.
It's the 3 litre 265hp SI version with manual transmission.

It has the M-Steering wheel and shift knob, as well as heated (unfortunately manual and non M) seats and Sat NAV. The xenon headlights and cruise control are good extras as well. The hifi system is S676A which should be a bit better than the standard one?

No service book, but has valid service history at the BMW dealership. Steering column and water pump never changed.
Suspension has been changed to ST coilovers: http://www.modbargains.com/st-coilovers-for-e85-bmw-z4-90204.htm

The seller said that the car is very stiff to drive, as well as it had minor damage to the left side (door and rear fender) repainted. Parts remained original.

Here is the extras list from the VIN decoder:

What do you guys think? Yay or Nay?

Welcome to the forum. :) Not really much to go on there. Do you have any pictures of the car? How much are they asking?

I would definitely need to drive a car that had had an off. No matter how small. Do they have the last alignment check figures?

So I replied to a post on another thread, but here goes!

In the UK that spec would effectively be an SE model, but with the M-Sport steering wheel.

I've only had Sport models, primarily to get the "M-Sport" seats! If they are important to you bear in mind that used ones tend to cost the best part of £1,000 a pair when they come up for sale!

But if you can live with the standard "Sport" seats that car does have some positive points, as in Bi-Xenons, rear pdc, heated seats, Nav and an upgraded stereo. The standard one isn't great, but I've only had that and the S677 Professional Option which could make my ears bleed! That one looks to be somewhere between the two - it would suit me, but probably depends how much you like your music.

And Cirrus Aluminium trim is pretty rare!

As for fitting in the car, it probably depends which bit of you is tall! I'm only about 5'9", but have shortish legs so most of my height is in the core of my body - but the seats go low enough to work for me.

But IMHO the best feature of any Coupe is the 3 litre N52 engine with 265 bhp!

From what I have read I don't think steering column issues were common on facelift models, but the electric water pump is always lurking in the background! My 1st E86 needed one at 60K miles and 9 years, but my E91 with a 2.5 litre version of the same engine seems to have got to 12+ years and 135K miles - 4 months after I bought it. :headbang:

In your situation I'd definitely take a look at it.

Thanks guys. He is asking 12k euros (I am in Europe) for it.

130i limited edition wheels, ZHP gear knob, cirrus aluminium, coilovers, cruise control, heated seats, xenons, sat nav, individual colour seats (shame they aren't msport)
Looks good enough for a test drive I think

Certainly doesn’t sound cheap (not for the uk anyway). One of the most desirable options (seats) is missing. Rock hard aftermarket springs and previous accident damage. No service book. Sorry but I’d be looking to spend my money elsewhere. Suspect it will be a very tough car to move on come re-sale.

Thanks guys. For europe and a LHD this is actually pretty well priced. I would definitely like Electric M seats, but there are not many around.

Regarding the service history, it does not have a service book, but it does have it’s history in the Bmw dealer database.

Extended leather on door cards, pillars and visors to. Not centre console though.
