I will ask - but Im being jabbed by a nurse on a production line of jabbee's
I would also like to know the answers.

I suspect the answers will be that :-
1. They probably don't know
2. The standard reply will be "under 12 weeks"
3. I probably won't get any symptoms of an infection so I won't know if i should isolate _ But I will continue to live my hermit lifestyle

We’ll get accused of copying each other’s homework Ron

I was just about to add that I posted without seeing your response
Pleased to say they coincide tho!

It is a step in the right direction but I would like to see the folk who must go out to work be offered their jabs.
Then the numbers will fall.

I wouldn't hold your breath on that one.

circa 1/5 of the hospitalisations are between 18-54 (they recently changed it so they added them all into one group rather than having them equally split up like they do the over 55's.

Roughly, it changes obviously on a day to day basis but you have:
0-5 (not worth reporting) circa 3.86 people in this age range
6-17 (not worth reporting) circa 11.77 people in this age range
18-54 (1/5 of the people) - 38.44 million people in this age range
55-64 (1/5 of the people) 8.17 million people in this age range
64-74 (1/5 of the people) 6.69 million people in this age range
75-84 (1/5 of the people) 4.05 million people in this age range
85+ (1/5 of the people) 1.65 million people in this age range

Keep in mind that there are loads more people in the age 18-54 than say the 75-84 age range but equally the same amount of people go to hospital with the virus from each age group.

As of last year there are 38.44 million people aged under 55 and 4.05 million people aged between 75 and 84. So from my basic man maths an 84 year old is 10 times more likely to end up in hospital from covid than a 55 year old (incidentally they are also at that point 3 years over their life expectancy)

It will go down slightly but not as much as you are hoping (if that makes sense)?

If you want to look into it the stats used further please take a look here:

So Captain Tom has gone. Doesnt seem quite right or fair. The people in his care home should have been doing more to make sure he didnt get it.
Sad news.
Certainly as far as I'm concerned this is something to be quite concerned about. So you have pneumonia, what checks were done and what care taken to ensure he didn't get Covid. Not enough it seems. A disgrace.

On the subject of “The jab” I got a phone call about an hour ago, get mine on Thursday.

Delighted to increase my protection levels as much as I possibly can

Nice,

Credit when it's due they seem to be doing an excellent job of getting through the numbers with this.

I wasn't expecting them to get anywhere near the numbers they have.

Indeed , i too thought it would be another move slowly executed but it seems they have got their ducks in a row with the vaccination
There are enough forum members only too keen to rip a strip off the government but i can't see how anyone could fail to acknowledge the success with this one

Na fair play to them.

What with the logistics of the German vaccine with it having to be stored at certain temps etc.

I criticised them for buying up 3-4x the amount they needed from various places but what with the dodgy supply chain and shortages they have done good.

It's almost like they know what they are doing... Which is very unlike them :D

As long as 12 weeks between jabs lets the vaccine work the way it was supposed to.

Recent reports suggest it does and in the absence of anything else I’m prepared to take my chances

My wife had her first jab 2 days ago and suffered severe reactions, chills, vomiting, headache etc. She is getting better but still not 100%. Oxford vaccine.

I get mine on Sunday, fingers crossed!

My mother 67, fit healthcare worker (who wasn't going to take the vaccine but had a change of heart and did) received similar symptoms for up to 3 days afterwards. She is fine now- hers was the pfizer jab.

There is a thread on Reddit that I have been following for the last month or so. It's mainly a doctors one but anyone can add into it (so the authenticity of it can 100% be questioned).

It appears that these side effects are a good sign but seem to be experienced by the young with strong immune systems.

If you are interested it's here but remember anyone can write in this thread to take from it what you will.

Finger's crossed indeed! I hope your wife gets better soon.
May I ask, and sorry if it seems insensitive, but were you 100% confident that something like this wouldn't happen before she had her vaccine? Is this a total surprise to you?

Yes, I read something about this just recently. It seems the worse your immune system is, the less likely it is for a reaction (or similar sentiment). It's like it needs you to be in a less than optimum state.

It was a surprise, but not a total one. I had read reports of this happening so I was not 100% confident that there would be no side effects, however the severity of it was surprising.

My understanding is the data is there in the trials but it hasn't been wildly publicised.

I guess we will see more when the million or so NHS frontline and healthcare workers get their second jab. I am very intrigued to see the reactions to the vax vs the virus in say the under 40's.

I would have thought that if there were any real issues in the young we might know by now. I know that over 5 million Americans have had both jabs but I don't know if that's just the old.

I guess time will tell and I am sure there are many a young adult drunk on fear to be guinea pigs over here.

They are welcome to have my place in the queue.
My fear is directed elsewhere.

So, may I ask what you are a Doctor of exactly?

Yes, I have to agree, they do seem to be rattling through them. My mum got hers a few days early at the end of last week and I’m slightly early for my projected date.

I, like others have mentioned, half expected this to be all good intentions but not necessarily backed up.

I can only speak for myself here but when I knew it was all being coordinated by my local GP’s surgery I felt better about it as they’re always on the ball in my experience.
