Don’t shoot the messenger but:-

Chris Whitty has warned MPs that the unvaccinated will be most at risk in the next wave of coronavirus cases, which could come as early as this summer.

I honestly suspect he knows what he’s talking about?

Let me have one last role of the dice to explain my circumstances.

It really has gotten to the stage where we have explained over and over and over to people who are either simply not reading what is actually being said, are incapable of understanding it or are being intellectually dishonest.

If you want the vaccine I'm 100% behind you, go take it and all the best, just don't be a smooth brained walloper because on balance of Risk vs Reward its not for me.

As for Chris Whitty, the sky is blue and fire is hot
He basically just said "People that drive cars are most likely to be in a car accident"
Im still waiting to find out how long the vaccine actually lasts, it could be that by Summer the people who were vaccinated first are at risk again

I nearly replied with "at the end of the day it gets dark".

It has been exhausted tbf. I need to tap out and I don't know why I can't.

It's going to be at least a yearly thing for the next 3-4 years I think (no evidence to back it up). Blame it on the anti-vaxers and pop out a load of fear on a new "variant" to keep fear high and the shareholders happy.

Come on Timothy you said a little more than that

Had I taken the route of "all vaccinations are bad" or "our government are out to get us" I could understand why people were calling me stupid, sad etc. Let me have one last role of the dice to explain my circumstances.

Might I be as bold as to suggest that I may be more informed perhaps than you of the risks involved with both taking and declining the opportunity. Heaven knows I have spent enough hours researching. If you want to interpret that as shunning or delaying the vaccine through fear and misinformation- then fair play I guess.

You said- "Any side affects of having the vaccine appear to far outweigh the plusses of minimising the symptoms and protecting yourself so it has to be a win"

I would love you to have this conversation with some of the victims of Pandemrix. Now it was reasonable to assume that there were no bad intentions when this was signed off but there were side effects later on discovered from this.

If I had of had the choice of taking the Hib/MenC vaccine now (let's pretend that I wouldn't have had it as a kid) then I would have no problems taking it now (it's backed with years of "case studies"). I would also take any the vaccines prescribed that have years of data (or test subjects) behind it.

With the risks of covid vs the unknown risks of the vaccination (this is fact- there is no mumbo jumbo here) we don't know any medium or long term effects of it. Then I don't think I am silly, stupid, an idiot, an antivaxer to not decided if it's right for me.

All I can really do is dip my hat to you and thank you for being a live participant in this experiment and I am happy to wait and see what effects (or not) it has on you before I make my decision to either participate or not.

I'm certainly not calling you stupid, I perhaps just have more faith in the scientists and the work done to create a vaccine than some otherwise we would be stuffed with no way out.

I'm just pleased my parents didn't dither and ummm and arrrr and question the experts in the 60s when vaccines were so important at the time and I'm still here to no ill effect 56 years down the road.

If you know something we don't regarding the vaccine that's great but I'll put my trust in it knowing I'll be able to get on with life with minimum worry for myself

Tim.

I hope once covid restrictions allow, you two have got a room booked to continue your self perpetuating bro-mance :poke:

It might be safe to soon venture out to pubs, holidays etc but the pandemic hysteria will live on long after the risks have subsided

In my 40’s, my parents and most of my friends parents, are in their 70’s. Understandably, some of them are absolutely petrified of catching Covid and dieing.

I say “understandably” as the hysteria whipped up is horrendous. Yes Covid can be extremely dangerous, yes it’s a worry, yes it’s a lottery but no it’s not a guaranteed death sentence if your over a certain age

And that is the mindset many people now have

My mum has had the jab and the virus (with very mild symptoms), so I’d say although nearly 70, shes quite safe from serious complications.

But she doesn’t feel safe and the anxiety hasn’t subsided. Many of her freinds and parents of my freinds have had the jab but the extreme anxiety hasn’t eased. They’re still convinced death is just around the corner and I’m not sure that fear will go away with the easing of restrictions

I hope it does but my own experience says the mental effects of this on the at risk groups aren’t going anywhere soon.

This post was a straw poll of who was likely to have a vaccination - and to this point only 9% say definitely NO -
I just wondered how many of the 9% and a count of 16 who have said NO are at home and furloughed ?
Perhaps you could include the question of how many may have changed their mind

I would like to see that as well - the post was made prior to roll out of the vaccine and I suspect there will be a few Undecided and Maybe voters who are now more and better informed will have changes

The NO voters I suspect will have dug their heals in.
